SISTER MORPHINE CD'S

I am just curious about how the SISTER MORPHINE cd label continues to sell more and more better sounding previously recorded Stones Shows???

Are these actually a new found lower generation recording or........................ a computer enhancement by using the computer??

The price for these better sounding computer enhancement gold disc's cd's ae $50US?? Are they really that much better than the original??

I am hoping to hear from all Stones Fan's, as to whether I am upside down or ok????????????????

The source for their discs are existing releases.
They unnecessarily ravage them with further noise reduction, excessive EQ and audio compression, burn that on CDRs and sell them as "upgrades" or "remasters".

Sister Morphine puts out useless re-re-re-releases for some time now! I do not understand the hype for this 'label'..........

May I suggest that you just trade for one or two of their releases and then decide whether Sister M is worth the money?

I thought the Tattoo Boards were not improvements (in some cases worse than what is already out), but that:

Deuces Still Wild (Phillie) and
Lone Star Shooters (Fort Worth)

were improvements over Phillie Special and AETYVK.

That's not 100% true. The LivR 30th Anny edition was great. Chess Sessions is brilliant. San Diego '69's great. Leeds '71 is like hearing a different concert. SM, or Cool Cool Hand, per his moniker, tweaks and equalizes the sound of the source recording.

Some like the revised sound, some don't. If ya don't like it, don't buy it. I believe SM has a liberal returns policy. It is not a 'rip off' label by any means. They provide very, very decent coverart, and at the very worst, better sound than previously released versions.

For a casual Stones collector who wants only the best for his collection, SM is the perfect label.

I am glad that you have enjoyed these SM Stones CD's.

I am just asking if these are new show tape recording's or a computer upgrade???

I would still enjoy the original recording instead of a cool hand computer upgrade?!?

I believe the only new recording sourced by SM was Closer Than Close (B2B tour rehearsals). The rest are computer 'upgrades'.

Thanks Andy for your post! I believe that you are correct about Closer Than Close, and all of the recent SM release's have been computer enhancements by Cool Cool Hand!!

I love the SM enhancements for the most part. GGR is much better than Handsome Girls for example. Whether any boot is worth paying for is another matter entirely.

Save your money?

Absolutely, get them by B&P on Shidoobee rather than paying bootleggers here.

why did SM release closer than close part one , only original title btw
and then never release part two, are they waiting to copy it from another label
as usual

Mark,it probably was by accident that the 'Good Sister' released an orginal!
They really haven't been the same since "C" left and started the C2C Stones Label! Unfortunately,C2C hasn't released any recent Stones CD's, but when they did release a Stones Show, at least it was an original!

While it is acknowledged that the 'Good Sister' can improve the sound of an existing stones show, when is the last time they actually sent us an original
show??? Perhaps as Mark said it ws Closer Than Close which was quite awhile ago..... Maybe they do miss "C"

Agreed - while they (he) may "improve" a f*cking show that's been around for 30-odd years, they have not unearthed a "new" recording...funnily enough, alot of collectors want shows that have not surfaced rather than re-hashed shows that we already have 2 versions of....??? Collectors are waiting for shows which haven't surfaced, not the Mickboy/SM/Fan Club/VGP re-masters we are seeing.

Us dry-mouthed fans were apoplectic about "Cold English Blood Runs Hot", weren't we? I mean, the Sr. Morphine site even had clips of the first three songs from the show!

Don't let's get all sanctimonius about the label, or its recent releases. Render unto The Good Sister what is The Good Sister's!!!

Older and wiser, I stite my kysse!
