I wonder can anyone recommend an easy free program for making track markers for big audio files.
I have a single Flac file 45 minutes long with 8 songs on it. I'd like to make track markers and so have 8 tracks in stead of just the one. Thanks to anyone that can help, thanks, Eddie...............

I'm afraid that you have to do it.
It works fine with Soundforge or Audacity (free) and doesn't take so much time.

Thanks Honestman, yes that's OK, I don't mind doing it, it's just that I didn't know a reliable program to do it with, OK I'll try soundforge first, thanks a lot.........smileys with beer

OK, thanks jb. there's a lot to take in there but I guess once you've done it once or twice........do you recommend one over the other?

that's right: once you've done it once or twice, it's not as much as it seems.
for your needs [splitting a track] audacity is the program.
sound recording, playback, editting, converting are just as good in audacity as they are in sound forge.
souond forge has extra's like scripting and batching files for normalizing, eq, adding reverb etc.
i suggest to start with audacity. if there's a need you can upscale to
soundforge
