ISO: Sympathy from YaYas Complete?
Posted by: exilestones ()

Has Sympathy for the Devil from YaYas and the Apple Acetate with the missing verse ever put together for a complete version of the 1969 Madison Square Garden performance. I remember hearing one one time but it wasn't blended together.

Would an audience matrix mix enhance a complete Sympathy by making the missing verse from the Apple Acetate and YaYas blend together better? It's a very worthwhile project if anyone wants to take the challenge.

It would be great to have the complete song!

Thanks

I guess it would take an old version of Yayas (Old Abkco 1986) to mix with the Acetate to try to mesh the sound of
the the two different recording since the Acetate is very good sound by not as good as say the DSD remaster of YaYas.
It would be hard to match the sound but we know it won't be perfect.

Sir Muddly,

Please do not keep this stellar version of Sympathy under your Raspberry Beret. Because I will lay a trap if you are a troubeedoor and I'll Kilimanjaro you before you reach Bombay...

Thanks. I love mail!

Did you switch version in the middle. It's an amazing blend. I thought of cutting in the one verse but that would be two sound changes. Unbelievable. Thanks. I hope you find the wav!!

Really? I didn't know about the intro to Rambler was cut.

I never played the Acetate much except for J J Flash which is really cool. I'll have to give it a spin.

What else is different? I'd love to know.

Everybody on Hot Stuff here has been great. Thank you.

I have these notes in my Apple Acetate:

"Ya Yas" acetate; in stereo

This version is from an acetate with somewhat different mix of the tracks on "Get Yer Ya Ya's Out."

Most interesting are probably the overdubbed guitar solos in Jumping Jack Flash and the missing verse in Sympathy for the devil.

There is surface noise from the acetate but the sound is very listenable. both the acetate and the released version of ya ya's
include edited versions of sympathy for the devil but in different places as a bonus track.

I have edited them together into an
very close to complete version . the mixes are different so it is not a perfect editing job more info on the acetate can be found here

artwork done by me.

Songs
01. Jumpin' Jack Flash
02. Carol
03. Stray Cat Blues
04. Love In Vain
05. Midnight Rambler
06. Sympathy For The Devil
07. Live With Me
08. Little Queenie
09. Honky Tonk Women
10. Street Fighting Man
11. Sympathy For The Devil (Complete Mix)
12. Jumpin' Jack Flash (same as track 1 but with a more clean flowing intro)

Must be written by Chris M.

So the J J Flash lead guitar were overdubs? I always figured they were cut from the final YaYas.

I remember a "F yer YaYas Out" and the "Apple Acetate." One of them had less extra noise (crackle) and the other was clearly better. I think the Apple Acetate was the best one. Is that correct?

Thanks again.

I just bought a copy of what was listed as Broadway but has the blank sleeve and the white labels of a test pressing. It has the overdubbed guitar solos in JJF.

I can’t find any information about it online.
