Do you have this one - with Midnight Rambler incl. radio comment?
I never had the set but I have the LP with this track-listing and the EP - will check if the comment is there as well.

The other LP without the 7" has a shortened MR without comment.

ok, thanks for the info - so I don't have to check it.

Midnight Rambler incl. radio comment is also released on the following bootleg:

Yes, thanks. But I would have liked to hear that Moonchild Records LP+7" because I never had that myself. Maybe someone who has it can rip it? The Stones In The Park 2LP is not so interesting for me because I once had it myself.

Hope you're having a good vacation, Silkcut
Started listening to some of your vinyl-rips; "Happy Birthday Charlie" is an upgrade for me! But I must say....especially the 1st half of the show features one of the worst Jagger performances of the 70s; for his part anyway. One of the worst "If You Can't Rock Me" 's ever....almost funny to listen to. But maybe I'd view it differently if I was listening to it inside of a closet...!

Re: POST: classic vinyl bootlegs series - updated with CVBS 016 - The Black Box

The Black Box is the next in line - I had this on my HD already for a while and as I'm home on a short break between two vacations and no time to rip something else I thought maybe someone would like to have a flac-version.

I ripped "The Black Box" - same as "The Black Album" - pics of both are included and I'm sure everybody knows by now that this 3LP-set was made out of "Beautiful Delilah", "Gravestones" and "Rape Of The Vaults". The latter two are available as a double-album as well.

Thanks so much for a complete 'Black Album' rip! I was hoping my partial attempt would have become obsolete one day smiling smiley
(And there is no irony here: I only had the 2nd and 3rd LP on a 25 year old tape recording of which the quality was
somewhat compromised to say the least - see [www.iorr.org])

Thanks for the hint - Ruby Tuesday has indeed a zero-byte length but o n l y within the raw-upload. The declicked one is ok.

It's now corrected and those who'd like to have the raw version will have to dl 2 files.

Thanks! I'm a bit suspicious of declicking as my experience is that it produces some extra artificial noises -
but I'll check 'em out in the meantime.

Thanks too for finally solving the mystery to me of which colored vinyl went with which part of the box...
Now another has arisen though: which one has been released first, the 'Black Box' or the 'Black Album'?

Cheers

The Black Box came first, The Black Album was released a few years later.

When I listen to this stuff from my PC I go with the declicked versions but that's my personal taste. I know exactly what you mean as CoolEdit for instance is producing awful artificial noise. But I was impressed by the results of DartPro a few years ago. Compared to DartPro Soundforge isn't that good in reducing the noise but I can't hear any artificial noise so I'm more or less satisfied with it.

Cheers
Thomas

Great! I still favour the 'Black Album' for its colored vinyl I guess... winking smiley
I have been working with Pristine Sounds for ages but indeed, the 'declicking' is terrible, if working at all.
(I actually kinda like the vinyl clicks in my own nostalgic way!). But as I was actually planning to buy a
brand new headphone today, I will surely put your declicked version to the test.

Cheers,
Joyce

Adobe Audition (which is the successor of CoolEdit) has also a very good click reduction process in version 2 or higher. It is a new process, which was not implemented in CoolEdit yet AFAIK. The old one from CoolEdit is also still there but is indeed not good.

Indeed, the artificial noises I feared are nowhere to be heard. Perhaps, with this Black Album,
when the source material itself is already severely compromised, I thought I could hear some
but I wasn't sure. In fact I heard the same noises in the 'raw' version.
When I visually compared the two waveforms (in "Too Many Cooks" ), I can see that the click is
vanished. However, the phase of the declicked version seems to be inverted. I'm not sure if
this is due to the process or happened for some other reason (the declicked has a slight DC-offset
- while the raw has none).

(position 5.066 sec. in the raw TMC = 3.642 sec in the declicked)

PS: as I am working on a Black Album "Recollected & Remastered", I noticed that 'It Should Be You'
is different from the version that is commonly availlable. For instance on 'Songbook', 'Unsurpassed
Masters', and ' How Britain Got The Blues', these versions are all 'take 2'. Does anyone have version 1?

I'd guessed too, but there are certainly different harmonies in the middle section:
"What can I do to win her back again / she kisses me - but it is not the shame"
(the 2nd version adds a ooh-whoo after this line which can't be heard in the 1st).
The second - well known - version is also sung more forcefully (e.g., the "I
went wrong when - you were gone" ).

I uploaded both to sendspace

Version 1 (speed-corrected half a semitone down): [www.sendspace.com]

Version 2: [www.sendspace.com]

I did, however, find that 'Cherry Oh Baby' (raw) also gave an error with decoding:
"Error decoding source file at 2:07.431 : Unsupported format or corrupted file."

For me you don't have to change it. I'm perfectly happy with the version from the declicked one.
In fact the 'Black Album' Cherry Oh Baby runs at least 1 semitone too fast (I suspect 1,33) which
makes it pretty aweful to listen without the speedcorrection, thus compromising
the rawness anyway.

Thanks for the Blackbox Silkcut. Especially for the fixed Ruby Tuesday. It's a very clean version. Possibly the best quality I've heard of this instrumental.

It's from the Joe Loss Radio Show, July 17th, 1964. This version of the 'Black Album' omits the begining and fades in at about 30 seconds.
