I am happy to include it if it is official, but to my knowledge, it was never released officially. Neither were the stereo versions of 19th Nervous Breakdown, or Have You Seen Your Mother, Baby? If I am wrong, someone please post a reference. Thanks!

I think it is already there - Edits & Alternates : Disc 1 tracks 2-3

Is this what you refer to?

Please tell me more- I am unfamiliar with another edit. Do you have a reference? matrix number? where did you see another version?

The promo edit was released as a single by mistake in 1978. I have it! smileys with beer

The promo edit was released as a single by mistake in 1978. I have it! smileys with beer

Matrix number : 5N-906A / 5N-906B
It is collected in bootleg LP "Alternates" (OBR 305 015)
I don't know regular 45s in promo edit.

Hello:

Job well done ! That must have taken quite a bit of time to compile.

I have a question about VOL. 5 (Obscurities) - track 5

Do you know exactly what was done to Sympathy For The Devil to create the shortened edit ???

I would like to create that shorter version by editing my full length version.
(what section of the song was removed)

Regards

SFTD

yes, I disected this before. As I recall, there are 2 sections cut out of the original. I only had a very lossy, poor mp3 to work from. The edit is pretty bad, imho, but unique. All other edits of this song were simple fade outs.

I can try to give a better description once I can go back and listen close to it.

Hello:

Checking your references, I found the description of what the edit did. It removed verses 2 and 3 which as I see it, destroys the song's content.

Not worth re-constructing.

She's a Rainbow released as a single in 1978 in US? What was the Cat# and label on that one?

from [www.faqs.org] :

1978+ "She's a Rainbow"/"2000 Light Years From Home"
The 1967 US 7" promo held edited versions of
these two songs, which eventually reappeared,
after 1978, on a regular-issue London Records
US single by mistake. The 1978 label is "Sunset"
style, and etched into closing groove of single
is the matrix number 5N-906.

I have this single, so I can confirm drinking smiley

Hi, blakeeik!
What a great job! Thank you very much.

I'd like to ask you about 2 strange remixes that are absent in your list.

Some time ago there was a torrent on one russian site with 2003 SFTD remixes. The disk looks like a promo and included

01;Sympathy For The Devil (The Neptunes Remix) (Radio Edit);0:04:10.05
02;Always Suffering (Sentimental Remix);0:09:24.22
03;Sympathy For The Devil (Fatboy Slim Full Length Remix) ;0:08:27.33
04;Miss You (2002 White Label Mix);0:06:36.53
05;Sympathy For The Devil (Full Phatt Full Length Remix);0:05:38.32
06;Miss You (Dr, Dre Remix 2002);0:03:41.59
07;Sympathy For The Devil (The Neptunes Remix) (re-edited);0:05:55.08
08;Video;0:07:52.13 (This one was not included)

There was no number on the disk (at least it was not mentioned in the torrent), just Made in EU. LC00268.0602498106099

Do not know, though, if this disk fits your remark 'Promo edits specific to any one country' confused smiley

I did not know about these, thanks for bringing them up. I will wish to include them if theay are in fact Virgin releases (I assume, in that timeframe). I do not want to include them if they are not official, as many unofficial remixes were made. Do you have any reference? Artwork? I am very interested to learn more. thanks.

blakeeik

To tell you the truth - I am not a specialist in remixes.

I downloaded that disk and give a spin one or twice. Artwork looks very professional and official. Though I am not sure if the disk is legal or represents a kind of 'russian bootleg'. They use to produce really nice unauthorized copies of official records.

Judge yourself.

The disc was in ape. It was ripped in secure mode with pregaps. Torrent included cue and log files. Although accuraterip did not recognize the tracks (absent in data base).

Do not know about 'Miss You' remix but Always Suffering (Sentimental Remix) could be one of those B2B remixes posted by UrbanSteel some time ago.

What bothers me - some errors in the artwork. There is a note that the track marked + is included on 40 Licks. But non of them is included. Also, it seems that they messed video track with track #7.

I think this is fake. You are right, too many inconsistencies. Also, the scan is NOT of a 3D cover, although the credit goes to 3d-images.com. This means they copied the credit, but could not copy the 3D art and had to fake it. And not recognized anywhere else than a Russain torrent site really makes me wonder.

On the other hand, it was faked quite well. May be someone can confirm a legit source of this unique EP?

By the way, how do the mixes sound? I mean, compared to the know official mixes. They all are pretty crappy IMHO, but most do-it-yourself mixes are even worse than official ones.
