Help with gaps between tracks

Hello there, I wonder if anyone can help me,I currently burn shows to CDr using NERO 7, unfortunately even though I tick the box for ' Close all gaps ' the program still leaves a split second blip where the join is between the individual tracks, I wonder if anyone knows of a free or inexpensive download that solves this problem and allows a seamless burn ? ( I've heard about Adobe Audition Deluxe but can't afford their asking price - it's £££ -hundreds ) Amazing site by the way, congratulations to Bjornulf and everyone that contributes. I'm new to it but will be endeavouring to learn how to upload before too long, I have a few shows. Last question while I'm here ... does anyone know where to get any Ian Dury and the Blockheads shows ? ( I found a couple by Googling but not many ) Thanks for any help in advance, Eddie

Try to use

What you are telling looks like that you are burning mp3 directly to CDR. Convert those mp3-files before with foobar to wave and there will be no microgaps between the tracks after burning with NERO. But you have to use again the option 'Close all gaps'.

I always burn audio CDRs with a 'slow' speed at 8x.
Just try it and let me know.

Re the gaps - I too have had success with Foobar, burning at a slow speed.

However, someone on here recommended using Nero, but cross fading by 1 second. I tried this and it was perfect, AND you don't need to convert to .wav first.

Cheers Strettonbull, I shall check out all the options ( at this point though I have no idea what cross fading is but will read the discussion thoroughly soon ), I feel confident that between everybody I have been given a solution; Thank you to everybody for your help with this...Eddie

>> but cross fading by 1 second <<

1 second seems like too much, although it can vary from recording to recording.
try something like 3 to 6 "frames" and increase a couple of frames at a time as necessary -
you want to eliminate the gap without creating an audible "crossfade volume drop"

Yeah I guess you have to experiment a bit, depending on the original source.
