Record with Audacity. Is that the best prog to use?

I have looked at these alot too but if I have to convert my records to mp3 I would rather just have cassette tapes of em!

why this ,turntable ...it's cheaper to buy an audio cable..
plug it on the tape out from the reciver,,and the soundcard to the computer,,,

HELP. System is set up. Record Player>Pre Amp>Amplifier>Tape Output>PC Line in.
Audacity has a drop menu as part of the mixer bar. It should give a choice of Line In etc. It´s inactive. Any ideas? Thanks.

check it out if you are serious about transcribing you wont be sorry
