Jos, is wonder if a lot of those 99 tour sbs(that at the time I was told was a ALD) might have been IEM instead? Possibly Ronnie's because most of these seemed to have Ron way up ands Keith nearly outta the mix.

I don't know either. Aren't in an IEM recording "instructions" for the band member audible like on the DAC set from Japan 2006 (DAC-050)?

This may be right. I have a pro-shot of a Roger Waters concert of last years and you can hear all the time the metronome ticking that is giving the right speed of the sound.

I find it interesting how some of the nomenclature has developed & become part of the mainstream.

Working musicians don't use the word 'soundboard' it's a 'mixing desk' or just 'mixer' (not to be confused with the folks twiddling the knobs & faders who are also known as 'mixers'). There are usually 2 desks at a concert, the 'Front of House' (FOH), which is the main one in front of the band & which mixes the sound you hear out front. Then there's the 'monitor' or 'foldback' desk, usually hidden on one side of the band which is solely responsible for what the musicians hear.

When we mix 2 audio sections together it's called just that, a 'mix', certainly not a 'matrix'.
