Yes Father, Driveby Truckers have a great raunchy DVD called The Dirty South Live At The 40 Watt. Not sure about Beck.

i was surprised at the ferocity and clever writing in the new Pretenders album.
saw them do 'boots of chinese plastic' on letterman show and it was impressive, rockin' and fun. doncha think?

there are some others but this leapt immediately to mind.
there was some worthwhile bluegrass and country albums too but probably not the forum for that here...brad paisley is one of the best guitarist in the country imo.

Best: David Gilmour - Live box set, the Best Buy limited Edition.

Worse: ZZ TOP - Live from Texas. Sloppy performance, out of tune guitars and editing by someone who cannot tell the difference between a bass solo and guitar solo. You do not show the drummer, back of bass player and then the crowd holding up beers during a classic guitar solo.

Apart from the usual suspects I'd say these.

Raconteurs
Black keys - Attack and release
Kings of Leon - Only by the night

But there is loads of stuff that I haven't heard of course.

2. Metallica-Death Magnetic
3. AC/DC-Black Ice
4. The Killers-Day & Age
5. Guns 'N' Roses-Chinese Democracy

WOW
this is almost EXACTLY my list, tho I would replace the Killers is Kid Rock - Rock-n-Roll Jesus. I know, I know... I take a bit of razzing from some for being a Kid Rock fan but HEY... I think the Kid Rocks. I am also taking a little bit of razzing for my love of Chinese Democracy these days. but then, what do they know smiling smiley

I am a TOTAL Supersuckers Junkie and will be seeing them on the 6th of December in Cleveland. I have seen them a ton of times.
Best Rock-n-Roll band on the road

David Gilmour in Gdansk seems popular here which is nice. I was at that concert. The live experience was even better than the cds.
My favourite ones would be:
The Raconteurs - Consolers of the Lonely,
Bob Dylan - Tell Tale Signs.
But I haven't even heard a lot of stuff people are mentioning though I might have those cds lying somewhere (not enough time I guess)

I really appreciate this site with getting good leads on music!
I have read nothing but stellar reviews of King's new one. Want to get it. How is the new Buddy Guy? What is it like, compared to Sweet Tea?

Looking forward to Christmas, hope to have Tell Tale under the tree:-)

Ho-ho-ho

whitem8, new Buddy Guy is wonderful. go to your music store and start listening, it's worth it! "Show Me the Money" and duet with Clapton are highlights.

I have to order it from Amazon. Jakarta has some good record stores, but that one might be hard to find...

great albums by BB King and Buddy Guy.

buddy's latest is one of his best....one spin of the lead-off track will spin your head. some nice contributions from derek trucks, but buddy is in full control throughout. his studio albums tend to be spotty; not this time.
