Mick's worst singing on a song.

I was listening to "Wild Horses" the other day and just it occurred to me that Mick's singing on the song is horrible. Now the chorus sounds pretty good but his lines sound down right miserable. I never really listened to it that way but it was just IMO. Does anyone agree or is there something worse from that era.

Bad Mick singing "Emotional Rescue" - not so much bad but ridiculous which is too bad because I think it might have been a great single with a different vocal - it was a huge hit anyway but I've always cringed when I hear that one. Has anyone lamented the fact that the song has never been played live?

Heaven... probably the most irritating song in their catalogue.
Well, to me anyway.

Not Mick's singing, but the harmonies (& out of tune guitars) on 'The Singer Not The Song' are embarrassing.

I love to complain but it's hard to find something to pick on here....but I do think Jaggers words are somewhat unclear on It's Cold Down There

does streets of love count? it's not clear to me whether it's fair to ever include SOL in "worst" debates, given it's obvious status of general worst of the worst....

we should start a new thread then for "T&A's worst singing on a song," cos i think i've done worse than that....

I guess I never thought of Mick as a "singer" in the classical sense...more of a frontman/showman, and the best-ever I might add too. His style is best when he shouts lyrics i.e. Brown Sugar, HTW, JJF, GOMC, SMU, Rambler, Satisfaction, etc.

Mick is the best at what he does though...no doubt!

That's right. I also really can't stand the way Mick sings "Yes, I'm fumbling and I know my car don't start" on Loving Cup as featured in Shine A Light either. Plain dreadful.

Time waits for no one- completely void of any soul, ugh Mick what were you thinking on that performance?

The overly loud mastering job on "A Bigger Bang" didn't do the sound of Mick's voice any good. It sounds as if he was shouting his way through the entire album, with the exception of "Let Me Down Slow", "Rain Fall Down", "Streets Of Love" and "Biggest Mistake" (and Keith's tunes, of course).

Are we only talking studio tracks?
He was pretty bad on Dirty Work (that throaty weird style) with the exception of "Had It with You".

Live or partly overdubbed, don´t know and doesn´t matter ,JJF of LYL
is one of the worst.

Sounds as if he hung up head down from hall´s (or studio´s) roof.

Most of "Dirty Work". That 'barking' style of his in the mid 80s was his nadir.

..and "Love You Live" - which is even more bizarre considering so much of his "live" vocals were re-done in the studio.

I actually think that this was (with the occasional exception) the last time he sounded truly inspired in the studio...

Studio: Had It With You

Live: HTW, JJF, BS, and SFTD from "Love You Live". Also, "Satisfaction" from "Still Life"
