Best Of Stones 1983-2005

Not that we need another comp but I was wondering what people would pick from this era. Was toying with it being 1989 but I think from Undercover, the start of the, ha ha, I guess 'modern' version of the band...the singles but not all the singles. Not in any particular order. I think, regardless of most of the tunes, it would make a pretty good comp. One stab at it:

Tie You Up
Flip The Switch
I Go Wild
Rough Justice
One Hit
Sad Sad Sad
Love Is Strong
Lowdown
She Saw Me Coming
Out Of Control
She Was Hot
Fight
Mixed Emotions
Don't Stop
Saint Of Me
Out Of Tears
Sparks Will Fly
Thief In The Night
Laugh I Nearly Died
Almost Hear You Sigh
You Don't Have To Mean It

JUMP BACK covered the Eighties pretty well, so I'd propose the following...

LICK THIS: The Best of 1990-2008

Don't Stop [New Rock Remix]
You Got Me Rocking
Rough Justice
Rain Fall Down
Sex Drive [remix edit]
Almost Hear You Sigh [Bob Clearmountain remix]
Out of Tears [Bob Clearmountain remix]
Streets of Love [single edit]
Out of Control [Saber Final Mix]
Saint of Me
Anybody Seen My Baby? [No Biz Edit]
Love is Strong [Bob Clearmountain remix]
High Wire [single edit]
I Go Wild [Scott Litt remix]
Like a Rolling Stone [single edit]

Well Jump Back didn't cover enough - it's just a poor updating of Rewind and not nearly as interesting. That's why I was up for having it go to Undercover and include some Dirty Work tunes and leave the lame ballads off.

Olorin - are you nuts? They've got excellent tunes!

Sometimes the posting of links for images doesn't seem to want to work.

i,d go for 1989-2005.

i usually define the stones into 3 basic period.

1962-74 which could be seen as the golden years.
1976-86 the silver years
1989-2005 which is the comeback era.

if i was to pick a setlist for a concert or compilation album here would be my choice.

19 songs.

continental drift.
sad, sad, sad.
almost hear you sigh.
hold on to your hat.
highwire.
love is strong.
the worst.
i go wild.
gunface.
you dont have to mean it.
already over me.
like a rolling stone.
this place is empty.
laugh i nearly died.
rough justice.
infamy.
back of my hand.
biggest mistake.
rainfall down.

not a bad collection considering the stones are suppossed to be well past it by then.

Continental Drift? Yikes. Or are you referencing that intro? Never could understand what people heard in that tune that they liked.

Along with a few others.

Well,we all have a different taste!

So before I look up my own faves later I have to say that f.i. from Bobbys list there are many songs that I don't like or wouldn't name "best".

Sad sad sad
Hold on to your hat
Highwire
Gunface
Like a R.S.
Infamy
Back of my hand and B.Mistake would all definitely not be on my "best of modern" list!

I've always liked Too Tight. RS labeled Keith's solo 'pedestrian', which it pretty much is. But it's a pretty killer tune actually - very stompy.

I think they don't have enough material for that post-1983 just yet. The next album would fill out what's missing (2 or 3 greats, by the standards of the era).
