Better late...Tim Ries vol 2

Just received it in the mail, and - didn't want to dredge up the old thread - I really love all but a track or two. I always wish the RS integrated more jazz into their own albums, since I heard their take on Mingus' 'Dont Drop That Atom Bomb On Me'. Ries creates a very different 'feel' (ID'd by nation) for each track, and some tracks are simply beautiful - 'Baby Break It Down,' with Keith's guitar directing the feel and Bernard's great vocal; the relaxed, soul-deep gorgeous Foo To Cry, again w/ Bernard, and Charlie; the Cubano 'Undr My Thumb', a 10-plus 'Hey Negrita' with all the Stones, creating a more relaxed, utterly fresh and dynamic version with especially notable solos by Ron & Mick....and a spectacular YCAGWYW, with Ries turning a warhorse into an imaginative, driving version. And much much more to digest.

agree with all of what u say, except for the under my thumb bit. it's such a brilliant song in the original studio version, why ruin it by turning it into this latinesque thing? so many beautiful thing one could have done with that song, especially in jazz music.

I received my copy in the mail today.
Baby Break It Down, Hey Negrita and Fool To Cry are real treats.

re "Thumb", the music is cool, or hot, but must say the menace is MIA - a minor flaw, due to the vocalist's rather detached lead.

Can you play the bonuses that are supposed to be on CD2 ?
I can't (under Vista at least...)

Doc, if you play it on the computer(Windows Media Player), then you will be in for a surprise!
JJF, the flamenco version, recorded in just one take.

Doc,
- insert cd2 in the cd/dvd rom of your pc.
- if it runs the menu gives: Stones World Extras
- select Clips
- select Jumping Jack Flash
the cd rom in my computer automatically opens in iTunes, but if you have previously selected Windows Media Player it should run too. Nine minutes of JJF/flamenco to be enjoyed!!! QUE SE DIVIERTE!! thumbs up

Hi juf, is your pc running Windows Vista or XP ?

Here is what I posted about this in the other thread New Tim Ries

"I couldn't find it on my new laptop which runs on Windows Vista. Maybe I should check my settings. In my old laptop with Windows XP no problem. Simply put in the disc, open explorer and there you find the video clip. Absolutely amazing clip".

I still haven't found a way to play the clip on Vista. Vista recognizes CD2 as an audio CD only.

Absolutely. Although I still find it very strange that Vista only "sees" the audio files on the CD. Maybe a technician on board here ?
I could easily transfer the files from the CD to my old XP laptop and from there to my Vista laptop and then they play.

There is also a folder called "Poster & Photos". Inhere you find 2 PDF files. The one called "Recording Credits & photos" contains some very nice pictures.
