No, every country in Europe has his own soccer competition. Most important competitions are in England, Spain and Italy, then Germany, France, Portugal and Holland follow. And then you have "small" countries like Greece, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Belgium, Austria and Switserland. All champions of these countries compete the next season in the Eurocups (Champions League and UEFA Cup).

Nijmegen has a soccerteam called NEC (Nijmegen Eendracht Combinatie).

Mr. Ed, those guys from the other continents want to watch a decent football game - no full-helmeted weaklings that call their sport "football" though hardly using their foot and a ball which is shaped like an egg but not like a ball...
But: Even I as a German have difficulties to read your statistics. That's why I translated PSV as Eindhoven in my earlier post or know that Twente is from Enschede. You would understand a German league with keywords like Bayern, Schalke, Hertha, Eintracht or Borussia (who's THE Borussia of the season changes...) but none of those "soccer" nations, too.
Those guys will know about the bridge of Arnheim but not that the local team is quite fast (in what, by the way?!), Vitesse.
Willem II must sound to a stranger like the team of the heir to the British and not the Dutch throne...
NEC (Nijmegen Eendracht Combinatie)?! Isn't Eendracht (unity) and Combinatie (Combination of) the same?! And: If the g in Nijmegen is the German ch what's the ch in Eendracht?

Ajax strikes back....

I enjoyed the game at Villa Park on Thursday night. Thought that Ajax were a reasonable team who defended very poorly.

As an Aston Villa fan it was a pleasure to chat to some of the Ajax fans in the bars of Birmingham before the game.

Best of luck for the rest of the season to all football following Stones fans.
