The Ultimate Brian-Era Live Album...

...could easily be compiled from the 65/66/67 Paris tapes! I know I'm probably preaching to the converted to most here, but it's a shame that the more casual fan so often writes off their pre-1969 live performances, & only has the poorly mixed & dubbed 1966 album as "evidence"...

I'm listening to 'Carol' from Paris '65 right now, & imo it completely blows away the Ya-Yas version (not only is it faster, but Keith is playing all the proper lead licks rather than just the lazy "slurs" from '69).

What about the 2cd Beat Beat At The Beeb, take the best of that and it would make one killer live album!

i don't share your opinion of the 69 versions of the Berry rockers -
i love the raunchy weight of those things, like an elephant running as one reviewer once observed -
but yeah those Paris 65/67 tapes are mighty mighty fine! can't get enough

Yeah, those Paris gigs are all great! Nothing wrong with the more groove orientated USA 69 stuff though.

It's good to have the variety to choose from. smoking smiley

I'm not familier with this, but I do have a 2 CD-R set of BBC radio recordings (part studio, part live). Is this the same thing, Joe Loss Show, etc?

Sleepy City, I think there's a boot of that name containing the complete BBC recordings, but it's probably best if shadooby explained him-/herself.

Meanwhile...while working between semesters this summer I listened to these shows on a daily basis for two months straight...and that Paris '65-67 material is fantastic imo. Above all the energy.

Would've made a killer live album.

BTW, Sleepy City; did you go any further with the Doors/The Killer/LA '68 date? Would you care to tell, you can pm me if you prefer[It's not hidden]. Just curious.

I emailed the author of that book (with the LA Forum poster) but I never got a reply.
