After many a nights with a Tele on my lap, I am quite convinced the intro is:

D|------------------------|------------------------|----------5-------------|
B|--5h6--x----5----x------|------------------------|--5h6--x--5----x--------|
G|--7----x----7----x------|---7--7--7--7-----5-----|--7----x--7----x--------|
D|-------x---------x------|---7--7--7--7-----5-----|-------x-------x---7----|
G|--------------------7---|---------------5------0-|->-0---------------7----|

D|------------------------|---5-----5--------------|------------------------|
B|------------------------|---5h6---5--------------|------------------------|
G|--7-------7----7--------|---7-----7--------------|---7--7--7--7--------0--|
D|--7---7---7----7--------|---------7-----7--------|---7--7--7--7----5---0--|
G|------7--------7--------|---------------7--------|------------7--0-0---0--|

If you guitar guys would play the version you believe is right in front of me, I would easily be able to decide who is right.

Well, just play what I just posted. It is a slight alteration of Koen's version from Hal Leonard.

That's pretty much what I get in open G too...but it bothers me a bit that if you play it in standard tuning, [using open G & D strings, fretting the B string at 3 and hammering on the f from the open top E,] it kind of rings more convincingly.

I don't have a particularly good ear...so I'm not saying anybody is right or wrong on this one ;^)

My guess is, despite Hal Leonard's Tabs,
that Keith uses an open D-string, and for a short moment,as I posted, an open (g) 3-string.
That's probably the reason why standard tuning sounds more convincingly to you.
Playing in open G,.. sounding like standard tuning.
Whatever, Keith is a genius in his own way. smiling smiley

Now with All Down the Line (alternate take), see first post on first page.

Anybody heard this stereo version courtesy of the old pal, Kleermaker?

It sounds much better than the attempts to widen the near mono version. I'm not sure the origin.

jp.M, I have 4-5 different "stock" copies of the Happy c/w All Down the Line US 45 ranging as far up as -12 Happy / -5 for ADTL, and all play the "non-LP" version of ADTL. I also have several White Label Promos of the single, and the only WLP that plays the LP version is one that has Stereo printed on both the Happy and ADTL sides and for which ADTL's matrix is SR-RS-24186-1. It is pictured below for reference. Other than the ridiculously rare advanced-test-pressing SAM3 ADTL, it is the only other 45 that I have ever heard which plays the LP version of ADTL, as opposed to the single version. For what it's worth.
