I've always thought that the tongue logo is one of the most recognized logos by people who don't know what it represents.
In the seventies, I had a baseball jersey with the logo on front, and my dad always thought that was the funniest shirt he had seen, but never said a word after find out it was the Stones' logo.
And what about all these kids I see these days wearing it? I'm thinking it's just a fashion trend and a lot of these kids don't know what it is either.

Is that one with the red fireworks background new? I like it better than the chippy tongue for Bigger Bang.

Nothing beats the classic tongue logo. It's fantastic. Maybe the best logo of all times. Along with the Apple logo.

I love them all except for the liquid tongue. Never did understand the purpose of that one. I didn't care much for the exploding Bigger Bang one either.

The tongue logo kind of grows on you, and I do love all of the variations in design. Some are extremely colorful and clever. The logo really has become part of our pop culture collective unconscious and readily recognizable. There's a woman on my commuter bus who's probably in her early 60's. A few months ago she told me that once when she was on the bus she asked someone what the tongue stood for on a bumper sticker on a passing car, she said that several people chastised her for not knowing what was. How about that...a stroke of genius, really.
