Thought I would share this with everyone. My niece bumped into Ronnie on Saturday who was visiting a stately home near Guildford (near London) "just a day trip out from rehab". Knowing that I am Stones nut and having Ronnie pointed out to her as being one of the Rolling Stones she wandered over and had a as she described a "chilled out chat" with him. He was totally relaxed and in no hurry to end the conversation - really nice guy apparently. Anyway she told him that a couple of her uncles were mad about the Stones to which he was pleased and told her we should keep on rocking! So now down to the important stuff. She asked him what he was upto and he said that he was straightening himself out in order to go out on tour, firstly with the Faces (she didn't know who the hell they were!) and then to tour with the Stones in April 2009! Now her not being a Stones fan she did not ask the questions that we are all interested in i.e. where, what sort of show, new album etc etc. However this definate news - NO BS. Have to keep our ears open.

im still a teenager and i love music by the stones , beatles , acdc , led zep , kiss , deep purple ,50's rock , old blues and electric blues( clapton , winter , srv , etc....) , also like arctic monkeys , the strokes , white stripes , the black keys and some other new bands.
i think that "wall" between grown people and teenagers doesnt exist in the musical ways , its just the matter of how intelligent you are and the ways you really love the music , for example , here on mexico most of the teenagers are lost as well as the grown people.
girls listen to rihanna , always pop songs on the radio , just shit.
stupid boys listen to radiohead , dark metal , blink 182 , just shit for me.
even a cousin cried cuz he couldnt go to the madonna concert here in mexico!
in mexico it would be about only 300'000 people who like the stones.

However, we're supposed to believe from Ronnie that in the next 8 months :

1) Ronnie's going to finish his rehab(he still has another month to go)
then
2) rehearse and then tour with The Faces
then
3) record a new Stones record (presumably they'll do one before going on the road)
and then
4) prepare for a new Stones tour.

Quite a busy schedule by anyone's standards. Wise money would suggest at least two of those four are unlikely to happen by next April.

Was the young lady able to smell his breath? Can we be sure it wasnt the booze talking?

My thoughts exactly Gazza. However she said he was totally with it, not peed up. Must admit I was surprised about the 2 tours mentioned, but one of the good things of my niece not being a Stones fan she just repeated it verbatim, with no interpretation on it. He did not mention an album but like you cannot see why else they would go out on the road again without one...

It doesnt sound like it cant be done. The faces songs arent that hard (pretty much straight ahead r n r and covers) and I'm sure it wouldnt take Ron long. And The Stones could tour w/o a new album. Or do like they did in 81-throw together a bunch of outtakes. I dont think it would affect ticket sales in the least not to have new material out(it wouldnt stop me!) IMO.

If there is any hold in this romours, I think the Stones will come together for recording in April and then..... But belive me I heard on Virgin Radio about 1 hour ago that Mick will be on air this evening but who knows what he will talk about? May be it is an old taped interview.

More surprised at the day release bit than anything else, Neilly! (Was being a bit tongue in cheek about him being on the sauce)

I do fully expect the Stones to make a new record and tour in 2009. April just seems a bit early if Ronnie is still planning on touring with the Faces (which, lets face it, is unlikely to happen in 2008 considering its now 4th August and he's in rehab until September)

The Stones tour every 2-3 years and the band still requires 5-6 weeks rehearsal before they go on the road. Even though the vast majority of songs they play every night are the same songs theyve been playing for the last three decades. Their music isnt any more complicated than that of the Faces, either.

The Faces havent toured since 1975 or even recorded together. Its safe to say theyd be even more rusty. And Roderick would be too professional and concerned about his reputation to front a band who are going to be a drunken shambles.

Also, Universal have not thrown several million dollars in the Stones direction to have them embark on a new spate of touring without a fresh product to promote. Its not like the Stones will have many more chances in future to make an album and then tour behind it.

Boozers in rehab often get benzos.

im dissapointed. its now nearly a full year since we last had stones activity.

surely they wouldnt have needed any more than a 6 month break so it wasnt much to expect to at least be back in a studio by february 2008 with an album release in the autumn of 2008.

even if they had a break after that and then a few weeks of rehearsals they could have started touring early 2009.

realistically it dosent look like the stones will tour till late 2009 at least, if at all.

i wish the stones would make up thier minds what they want to do, if they want to call it quits thats fair enough, and if they want to continue than its time they realised that time isnt on thier side, they cant wait 2 or 3 years between tours now.
