going through my collection, i discovered the "bob dylan 30th anniversary concert" aka "bobfest" from 1992. i haven't heard this for years, and coming to ronnies performance of seven days, wow!!!, a gem, really great work.

It is - presumably youre aware of the studio version he released on "Gimme Some Neck" in 1979...its very good too.

Ronnie was superb at Bobfest. One of the best vocal performances of his career.

I saw Bob play this circa '96 -- my jaw dropped.

Anybody know where I can download or get the version of Breathe on the b-side of I Can Feel The Fire? It's very different to the one on Now Look and one of Ronnie's best songs.

I think I've got the single somewhere but I'd have to dig around for it.

>> Was it put on that Ronnie compilation CD <<

which "it" do you mean - Seven Days or the other version of Breathe On Me?
i'm not sure which non-Now-Look version of Breathe you mean - it's on Slide On This and Slide On Live,
and of course the New Barbarians played it as well - it's on the Buried Alive release

ps: if it's the Slide On This version of Breathe On Me you mean, yes it's on the Essential Cross-Sexion cd.

It's Breathe On Me, the b-side of I Can FeelThe Fire that I'm looking for. As far as I know it has never come out on CD or in fact on a bootleg. It's a gorgeous version that is quite different to the Now Look one.

Nov.1974. I Can Feel The Fire/Breathe On Me. Warner Bros K 16463.

Thats really interesting, Silver Dagger. I dont believe I've heard the 45 version.I knew the Breathe track was recorded during the "My Own Album" sessions but never knew it had been released prior to "Now Look"! Had the album-never even looked for the single. Just my opinion but I didnt like the later "Slide On This" and "Slde On Live" as well as the original and New Barbarians live versions. Never got into the lumping together of all the verses!

Totally agree scottkeef. The original has a lovely spaciness to it, almost ethereal. I'm going to try and track it down on ebay. Just wish Ronnie would have included it on his Essential Cross-Sexion hits release.

thanks for the link, g-man....always a good one to revisit. cropper is one bad-ass mutha. of course, neil was so impressed with this "house-band" that he hired 'em for his next tour...gotta chance to catch one of the "live rehearsal" shows in concord....cropper was every bit neil's foil... loved the submline/clever take on otis' dock of the bay that night.

good to see the dearly departed howie ep there, too....'twas a great night of festing....

also worth a revist:
one with Keith and Steve Cropper at the Sevilla Guitar Legends festival `92.
I'm Going Down.
note, when Keith's high e-string gets stuck off the neck at around 4:20

Booker T and the MG's with a Stone........outstanding!

Thanks for posting the BobFest clip!

Can anyone post (I don't know how to do it) Ronnie's introduction of Clapton. Something like 'Here he is with a new haircut - say 10,000 of them."

Be nice to see EC's performance of "Don't Think Twice" from BobFest too!

Here's EC's performance of "Don't Think Twice" from BobFest for ya.
I didn't see the haircut Introduction though.

while I'm at it, another favourite of mine.

Chrissie Hynde - I Shall Be Released.

Seven Days sure is one of the highlights of that night - other ones are, IMO, Johnny Winter's Highway 61 - and Willie Nelson's What Was It You Wanted....an unsuspected choice for Nelson to do; which gives it a certain nerve
....and Lou Reed's great. Nice thread, I'll have to play the VHS again soon

Thanks open-g for posting "Don't Think Twice." I always thought that during that performance he must have had someone on his mind that had really pissed him off. Steve Cropper's face at the end of the song says it all.

Actually EC does 2 songs. "Love Minus Zero, No Limit" and then "Don't Think Twice"

Ronnie introduces EC before "Love Minus Zero, No Limit."

If I recall Ronnie is wearing a cape of some sort.

The I Can Feel The Fire B-side version is aprox. 2,5 minutes shorter than the Now Look version. N. Zentgraf lists it as an edit. Are you sure it's a different mix/version?
