Beautifully put Sir.

And I agree - so what if Keith was all over the shop. Hearing his guitar in isolation is a treat. Sounds like pure rock'n'roll to me.

Yeah but that vibrator would have to be REALLY loud...maybe 100 watts?

Anyway, what's the chances of all those girls at the orgy keeping quiet long enough so you could hear the vibrator? Not good I'd venture....lol!

I saw God in the plexiglass glare.

Thats is truly awful, nothing to do with "only hearing Keith's amp".

Sounded great when he picked up the roses. Was he playing in four keys at once?

You'd be hearing nine girls filing their nails...

Makes me think of the train-wreck of an encore I heard in Philly a few years ago...
After a great concert, the Stones reappeared onstage for an encore. Keith launched into the
first few notes of "Satisfaction" and the rest of the band, having bothered to read the plexiglass played "Its Only Rock n Roll",

It was SO loud and confused that Keith didn't realized his mistake until they got to the chorus.
"I know, it's only rock n roll but I like it," Mick and everyone else sang, while an embarrassed Keith dropped both
hands from his guitar. He smiled for a second, then he joined right in.

You can call that one "It's Only Satisfaction"...

>> an encore I heard in Philly <<

actually it was the other way around, schillid: Keith (and the band) were playing IORR,
and the Mick came out with Satisfaction. so everyone very rapidly adjusted to the frontman -
especially since Satisfaction is what was actually on the setlist.
but how Mick managed to launch Satisfaction while the rest were playing another tune in a different key
is actually quite an intriguing mystery - and how deftly they wrestled IORR into Satisfaction is a gas gas gas :E
(it sounds like you need to get ahold of the bootleg of this historic show, schillid!)

I knew I'd get that wrong! However, I WAS there and I DID hear it. I guess I switched the titles around in my recollection. I knew that there was a 50-50 chance that I was switching it around, and I'm too lazy to check. I should be sleeping...

I figured that someone, especially YOU @ Dept of Historical Accuracy would call me on it if I switched the titles. We'd probably both admit that my making that mistake is very concrete.

smile: yes, it's what's known as "level 2 concrete" - a symptom of being past bedtime. :E

other noteworthy historical points are that it didn't take them "until the chorus" to all get on the same number;
and that a lesser band would have ground to a halt and had to start over again. hail hail Rolling Stones
and their prowess at the fine art of beautiful fvck-ups and recoveries.

you really should get the bootleg of that show. Infamy was extra-fine that night!

But I seem to remember that Keith was the only one out of sync.
Mick and the rest of the band came were all together -- or so I always thought.
I could be wrong. Let's go to the videotape...

That Philly concert was the first Binger Bang show that I saw in and around NYC.
Since I had to drive back to NYC (Jersey actually... near NYC), I had chosen
my parking spot carefully: As near as possible to the exit, to avoid the traffic jam
getting out of thw Wachovia Center parking lot... After that, a quick easy getaway
up onto Interstate-95 heading north.

And that encore was SOOO terribly awful that I made the decision to RUN TO
THE PARKING LOT during the second verse.

... you ran out of the one & only concert performance of It's Only Satisfaction?!?
i am sorry for you. and you really must be past your bedtime to be confessing things like that! :E

Infamy was great that night! I take it that you have heard a recording of that show incl. "It's Only Satisfaction"...?

I do like to stay up late sometimes, but on that night...
12:00 midnight weeknight + 90 minute drive home + work early next morning + disastrous song + knowing that there'd be no second encore (is there ever?) + picturing hour-long traffic jam soon in parking lot = ...

Anyhow,
Thanks for the
Sympathy
