Yes, he pushed the defender away, so he could score. Wrong judgement from the referee. But I must admit that I didn't see it the first time. I only saw it with the slow motion replay. So I can imagine that the referee also didn't see it. Referees are humans who can make mistakes. Too bad actually, because when the referee would have seen it, then it would not have been a goal, and the match would have been even more exciting...

Football is littered with bad decisions that sometimes go for you and sometimes against. Germany suffered a bad one in 1966 when a goal that has been proved never to have crossed the line was given and swung the match England's way. So in the course of a lifetime these things balance - or should I say Ballack - themselves out. Anyway, I'm not taking anything away from the Dutch. They are still the best team and THE team to beat in this tournament. On with the great games tonight.

It's just a great tournament with a lot of good fun in and between the fans....

No hooliganism at all, just a wonderful party....

And sometimes we do bash the Germans a little bit and sometimes The Germans do bash etc. ....well, that's also part of the entertainment!

Tonight Croatia - Turkey

I want final Holland - Croatia

VECERAS NEMA BBB i TORCIDA, SAMO JEDNA HR! IDEMO, HRVATSKA!

The Ballack-goal: if this happens 100 times in a 100 different games, how many times will the referee actually see it? Let's say 50 times, but then: how many times will he consider it a foul? It happens all the time. The Portugese defense made two mistakes: the defender allowed Ballack to push him away (he should have known) and then the goalkeeper, WHAT WAS HE DOING??? I cannot say they did not deserve this goal, defending like that... It reminded me of the Netherlands 2 years ago: too naïve...

I'm not a Ballack fan at all (in fact I think that he's not enough of a fair player to deserve to be captain of his national team), but I have to say that his goal was perfectly regular. Portugal defense was, ehm, terrible...

I think Ballack's pushing the other guy is not really worth discussing. I mean, of course this should not happen in a football game, but let's face it: each time there is a corner shot there is lots of pushing and pulling involved, just to give an example. It also was not a malicious pushing as the one of Schweinsteiger (he deserved the red card he got for this one).

There have been attempts by the Portuguese players to fool the referee, too. But nevertheless I think this was a rather fair game on both sides! And a game which was really fun to watch! As others said before me: Let's hope the other games will be as much fun as this one was!

Because they could face each other at best in the semi-final.

So man for man - who is better tonight- Turkey or Croatia? It's going to be a tight game I think. Not so open as last night. I think it might go to penalties and then it's anyone's guess. There might even be a red card or two - it will be very passionate.

Tonight everything can happen. Two enthusiastic Balkan teams with equal knowledge. My vote is: CROATIA

you can bet on that!

if Croatia wins, it will spare me a nightworth of car honking and fireworks...

on the other hand, Turkey has proven to turn a game in 15 minutes - they'll make it.

I think you'd have to brave to back anybody against Croatia at the moment.
They have a superbly skillfull and well organised team with a great attitude.
Given the bit of good fortune that every winning team needs,I could easily see them lifting the tophy next week.

Yeah open-g, gotta remember that extra support we get from our Turkish friends. Not sure who I'd rather want to play...Croatia again or Turkey as it will be crazy for days (and I live in England!). I remember in WM 2002 they were looking forward to beating us in the final but luckily that didn't happen as Brazil got there...and the did the job for them. I tip penalties tonight and a very exciting match with maybe 2 red cards.

Croatia has better players I think, but the Turkish team impressed me 'cause they kept fighting 'til the final whistle...
Three important Turkish players will be missing, among them their very good goalie and Servet.

Croatia seems to be a safe bet, but we'll see. Living in Germany, where there is a great Turkish community, a semi-final Turkey vs. Germany would be exciting and great fun. On the other hand two of my best friends are of Croatian origin...mixed feelings tonight. Anyway, won't be able to see it as we've got a gig to play.

Enjoy the match tonight, folks!

Of the remaining teams, each would be a fine Champion, with the Dutch team playing the best football so far.

(Inderdaad NICOS! Ik fantaseer maar even over een finale Nederland-Kroatie, 4-4 na 90 minuten en dan Van Persie 5-4 in extra tijd)

We will see!

Torcida Split is a football supporters group, founded on October 28, 1950, who follow Croatian club Hajduk Split. They are named after the Torcida groups in Brazil. They have members not only in Croatia but also in other European countries
