I was in Antwerp yesterday. Great show but I realized how little I know of BS's music. I knew maybe 3 song (I know, shame on me). Still, what a performance! Glad I went.
So, what 3 CD's should I buy first?

Without any doubts: "Live 1975-85". It's a 3 Cd-Live-Set, still unmatched by any other record and some of the best music on this planet! Also gives you a nice overview from his first record up to Born in the USA.

I'll tell you the one I started with - a bootleg from the 1978 tour. It's available as Winterland Night here:

Then I got Darkness on the Edge of Town, Nebraska and Born To Run. Wildly different albums.

You might want to start with the current one (Magic), the most popular (Born in the USA), and the most legendary (Born To Run).

For what it's worth: I started with "The River" and to this day that still is my favourite Bruce album. I really think that is a very good album to start with but that's just my personal opinion and other people may recommend you another album.

I was at the Antwerp concert too and it was just amazing. Personal highlights were "The Ties That Bind", "Trapped", "The Rising" and most of all "I'm A Rocker".

So young And In Love / Radio Nowhere / The Ties That Bind / The Promised Land / Spirit In The Night / Magic / Trapped / Sandy / Prove It All Night / Thundercrack / Because The Night / She's The One / Livin' In The Future / Mary's Place / Fire / Point Blank / The Rising / Last To Die / Long Walk Home / Badlands // I'm A Rocker / Born To Run / Thunder Road / Glory Days / American Land

The River's a really recommendation, Phantom. It pretty much distills the essence of 70s Springsteen while hinting very strongly at the direction he'd take in the 80s.

It has a bit of the widescreen grandiosity of Born To Run, the comic playfulness of the first two albums (but none of the verbiage), the angry despair of Darkness. It also foreshadows Nebraska, Born In The USA and Tunnel of Love. In short, it's a watershed album. And it's called The River.

I went to the Paris Show. Is there more to say than that HE made it to perfection. Sound was as good as could be in this sort of echodrome. A setlist that mixed warhorses with new songs. A responsive audience. When I arrived back home there was a couple who was walking the dog. They were yelling at him to come more rapidly. I just said to them : " He seems to be the boss". They answered : " Yes. Most of the time ". The dog's name was "Bruce".

An absolute dream setlist, with Rendezvous, Janey and For You (my personal favourite) as extra special stand-outs.

Indeed, Gazza had a WONDERFUL show!!!

Milan and Paris were both superb shows in front of excellent crowds. Was great to get so many songs that I even I hadnt seen him play before. "For You" solo on piano in Paris was a real highlight.

So Copenhagen got a minute more than Milan? Damn! Maybe that bit where he goes into the crowd and collects the song requests just went on for longer there!

Born To Run, Darkness On The Edge of Town, The River.

The Wild, The Innocent & The E Street Shuffle is in my top 3 personally, but its maybe not as accessible. Buy the "Essential Bruce Springsteen" compilation, which should be a good introduction.

Antwerp had an astounding setlist even by Bruce standards. Lots of rarities and songs he hasnt played much in many years. He definitely didnt 'punish' the Belgian fans for not buying enough tickets by delivering a standard setlist!

I just saw Bruce´ s show in copenhagen

just a little story first,
my mom have been sick for a while and is in the hospital called Rigshospitalet ,
and its just under 5-600 meters from Idrætsparken where Bruce is playing this evening ,and we have, the family and friends visiting all been talking with eachothers and with my mom about Bruce playing just around the corner, and we opened the vindow to try to hear if we could hear anything ,but nope not a thing, and then when my brother and me was about to go home after staying all day visiting our mom,the clock was 22.15
and I said to my brother, hey lets go over to Idrætsparken and hear if we can hear anything outside ,and just have a cigarette and then go home,
ok my brother said lets do that.

as we got closer to Idrætsparken we could start to hear the music more and more, and just when we got there ,we lit up a cigarett and a women in her late 20´s came over to were we where standing to get her bike, and I asked her ,if she has been inside to see the show, and she said yeah I asked her why she was allready leaving ,and that Bruce is famous for playing long shows about 3 hours long, and she told us that she had to go home to her Baby, because the babysitter only could stay to 23.00.
I then asked here if the show was good and if it was a good sound,
she said yeah its just GREAT and then said that I could have her ticket, she told me that there dont tear the snippet of the ticket,so I could still use it if I wanted to ,
wauv . my brother and me looked at eachothers
and my brother said hey hurry man go in and see the last part of the show, and I said no I cant do that and just leave you outside no way,
Your a fool my brother said , come on its bruce get your ass in there now,

and just then this couble about 60 years of age came walking by,and I also asked them if there have been inside ,and there said yeah its great ,but it was to hard to stand up much longer for them both between all the people,
and we stood and talked for a little minute about the show, and I told them the story that I just got this ticket from this women, and then the man said ,well then you are one ticket short, and he got his hand in his pocket, got out a ticket and gave it to my brother, also with the snippet intact,
wauv 1 more time

the door number on my ticket was C 10 and my brothers was C13 ,we then went over to door c10 where I should go in,and I asked the doorman if my brother and me could both go in at this door, because we dont want to loose eachothers in the crowd if we had to go in by 2 different doors, and he said yeah no prob just go in here the both of you,
and 2 min later we stood inside looked at eachothers with BIG BIG smiles on our faces and Bruce and the e street Band Rocking right in front of us.
and the clock was only 22.30.

it had not taking us any longer to walk to Idrætsparken, talk to the lady who gave me the ticket ,talk to the couble who gave my brother a ticket, and get inside the building than about 15 min.
I asked someone standing beside me ,when the show had started and he said about 21.oo .,
and man Bruce Rocket out right to midnight ,
so we got 1 1/2 hour of pure Bruce and the E street band MAGIC.

and it was unbelievable GREAT
I was supposed to see Bruce last year, but at the time of the concert my mom was also very sick so I decided not to go.

I saw Bruce in the late 80´s for the first and only time, and I remember I was amaced at his energy and very long show.

and I tell you, tonight it was so F....... unbelievable the energy MR Springsteen and his Band had,
up on the big screen you could see bruce´s eyes filled with so much fire,so much joy and so much pure raw human emotion, that it just blew me away.
you could literally feel His joy and energy coming right at you from the stage.
UNBELIEVABLE really UNBELIEVABLE

I will leave the setlist to others to write about, as I only saw half a show
but can tell that for extra numbers he played

Jungleland,
for a girl called christina ,who had made a big sign wishing for the song that Bruce got a hold of and showed to the crowd

7 nights to Rock
Born to run
Ramrod
booby jean
dancing in the dark,
american land ? with violin and harmonica

a Unbelievable evening with some incredible music
from a incredible Band

Swedish press isn't that excited. Bruce was struggling most of the concert and the sound in "Parken" was horrible.

'Struggling'... LOL..yeah he's on his last legs....

Seems to be a thing with the press there. Didnt Keith have a pop at them last year for rubbishing the Stones gig in Sweden?

Yeah, I agree with the Swedish press Gazza. I saw Bruce both nights at Emirates, and he was really struggling through his three hour sets. He was struggling so much he had to sit down on a stool to sing I'm On Fire.

he did that in Milan too. Must have been the heat. ('I'm on Fire' - geddit?) In fact at a couple of points during the shows, he was so tired he even leaned back off the stage into the crowd for support.
