While you couldn't escape seeing the hoardes of cameramen at the Beacon, there seemed to be only one still photographer in attendance.

Crouching low at the right corner of the stage thrust, the long hair and glasses certainly made me think it might be Annie Leibovitz.

Can anyone confirm or deny that she was photographing the show?

i guess it wouldn't surprise me....but, seeing as the event was
in 2006...you'd think a few would've surfaced in a magazine or two.

unless....maybe she's doing another book specifically featuring
her Stones images....the Beacon shots being the "final chapter".

Not Annie. It would be an "official" movie still photog, and he/she did a great job.

stonesrule..if you don't even know if it was a he or she..how can you be
certain? Obviously she was not the official still photog for the movie studio
but it is possible that she was there on her own (arrangements made directly w/stones)...

and just because JumpingJackFrost only saw the woman crouching in the
corner..doesn't mean there might not have been others in the balcony or
other places.

my point...nothing you said can be with any certainty.

but like i said...someone like Annie L. could have had a private agreement...or not.

Brigitte Lacombe did some set-up promo shots with Scorsese and the Stones
at a later date....during Keith mustache period.

With certainty, there are union rules regarding motion picture "still photographers." I was told by a cinematographer friend who worked on SAL at the Beacon that the official film still photog assignment went to a man he named and I have forgotten. Since sometimes, forgive me, I do have other things on my mind besides the Rolling Stones

Looking at the 'official' photos from the event, they are all taken from the balcony. There is nothing from the angle that this person was at.

The photographer is very visible in the film, you see them numerous times right at the corner of the stage, in a knit hat with long hair.

The other reason I think it may be Annie L. is that the photog is shooting with their left eye, which I think she does as well.

From my vantage point, which was right next to the guys doing the movie filming in the balcony, they were also shooting lots of stills from the balcony as well.......

I don't disagree that the union has their rules about the
official movie studio photog....but i don't think that excludes
other pro photogs that may have been hired by the band, the Beacon
or a music magazine.

At this point, we know there were at least 2 male photogs: Cohl & Mazur
and a mystery "woman" as JJFrost described.
