I've always felt that it's a real travesty that this song is picked as the Stones' anthem. There is so much better stuff that hardly gets an airing either live or on radio/tv.
With a smile on your face and a tear right in your eye
any pre-1974 attempt at a Motown cover Little Queenie Carol (from Ya-Ya's) Happy Connection Street Fighting Man Shattered, Shattered, Shattered Sleep Tonight Can't be Seen (now before some of you try to rip me another one,m there are some Keith songs I love) The LP version of You Got The Silver (Mick's vocal is so much better for me) Most of of A Bigger Bang
1. Miss you (Please tell them disco ended a while back) 2. It's Only Rock n Roll (decent song...just played in concert way too much) 3. Live with Me (not a good song)
On the other hand...Paint it Black- love it. Wish they'd use it for an opener. It would work perfectly. You got Me Rockin- Like it too. not a great song, but then they haven't played it to death.
Maybe nothin', James: me inna rough mood, sorry..... God & a few more know I have been in that such moods most of the week... I meant this line - "The LP version of You Got The Silver (Mick's vocal is so much better for me) Most of of A Bigger Bang" plus the fact ya dont like rock and roll.. But Jagger for sure lurvs rock and roll.
Please accept my apology & cheers! Just typed to quickly.
I don't recall ever saying that! I know I don't go against the wave-of-sameness here... but them's fightin' words!
Get you some free downloadable Powergoats songs right now and tell me I don't like Rock 'n' Roll... and do it quick before I grow huge, green, and start smashing things!
Start Me Up, Miss You, Far Away Eyes and Shattered! I cringe when I hear them starting these songs in concert; when I think of all the songs I'm DYING to hear....oh well.
start me up, miss you, its only rock and roll, honky tonk woman, you got me rocking all have to go, time to move on from these songs and replace them with others.
Start Me Up - I don't dislike it, but I've heard it (and sung it) so many times that I almost don't hear it anymore. It's sounded the same live for almost 20 years to boot.
The 81-82 live versions are now the only ones that get me going.
I used to hate You got me Rocking, until I was lucky enough to be in first row in front of Keith B-stage in Milwaukee, I was converted fast, even though I had heard it live before. No CD or Movie comes close to them live, and most of their live stuff doesn't come close to when they play live brilliantly which still happens randomly and unpredictably show to show. Those moments may not come as often, but they keep me coming back every time, Can't think of many things more exciting in the world.
