SomeTorontoGirl, I was there too. I saw him back many, many years ago in a club with Junior Wells, and only a few other people in attendance. I miss Wells' vocals.
I thought Buddy Guy was too much show and not enough substance at Massey Hall...kept stopping songs midway to slow it down/talk to the crowd and starting a new song, he needs to control the change in volume of his voice when switching from soft to loud, and it seemed he was playing songs he thought a white audience would want to hear. He had some great moments though.

Anytime anyone can be on the same stage as the Rolling Stones, it will be a BIG career booster. Mr. Guy is a really cool fellow and deserves the career bump.

Televison appearances, radio interviews, newspaper interviews and movies are great advertising. I only wish everybody understood the value of making those type of appearances. Doing that stuff lets old fans and people that have no idea who he is...

1. He's alive.
2. He's still performing.
3. He is an excellent entertainer.

Even if Mr. Guy did not get a single dime for his contribution to the film the resultant interest will be great for him. You will need to get tickets as soon as they are available since Shine A Light will certainly be seen by millions of people in a very short time and the promoters will capitalize on that fact.

I too have every intention of catching him live again (an excellent time if you ask me). Lucky for me, Chicago is only a short 4 hours drive from St. Louis and I have a radar detector to thwart the speed control camera's and police.

I hope his attendance numbers go way up and he gets to headline at larger venues.

By the way, I was very fortunate to see Buddy Guy and Junior Wells play in Chicago the night Muddy Waters passed away. What a treat that was.

Buddy and Junior were great together on tour.

Buddy can be erratic but he was clearly proud to be playing with the Stones and he was ready! The Stones had Buddy open for them many times and treated him and Junior and the band with appreciation.

Yeah, can't disagree, he likes to work the crowd a bit more than the axe sometimes. Big difference between him and Clapton - with Eric, you're lucky to get "hello" out of him, but you get close to 2 hours of solid music. With Buddy, you get the story of his life and a few showy riffs in between chapters. It's always fun to see him though, and the price was better than most lately. His band is good but I bet they wanted to let it rip a few times there...

has anyone seen him in concert in recent months, how is he over a full show?

He is playing the Shepherds Bush Empire, London, on Tuesday, 24 June 2008.

SD

He often has attention deficit disorder or something which prevents him from completing a song which can get irritating after awhile. I saw him do a focused, concise and incendiary 45 minutes, opening for the Stones in Chicago in 1998 and the hair on my neck stands up just thinking about it. Other times he's been less, shall we say, "there."

The easiest and closest is virtually next door to the Empire - O'Neills on the corner of Shepherds Bush Green and Goldhawk Road. Regardez : [www.oneills.co.uk]

At whatever time anyone chooses to turn up I guess!
