Re: The "It's good to be here, it's good to be anywhere" joke!

The first time I heard him say it was on the Steel Wheels tour, late '89. Seems like its also on the cd Flashpoint?

I wonder if that quote will be on his tombstone.

I wonder if that quote will be on his tombstone.

at that point wont it need to be altered to "it would be great to be anywhere else!"

I'm kinda suprised nobody said this yet but maybe you all don't know:

This joke is older than Keith, it's a vaudeville/burlesque line and is certainly older than the gentleman Keith attributed it to.

George Burns used it regularly.

Difference is, most comics used it in relation to being old and elderly. Keith is reffering to being a notorious drug addict.

Keith has already pinched Spike Milligan's choice for his tombstone ("I told you I was sick" ) - so maybe he could add another Milligan-ism to the usual "good to be anywhere"...

"Well, everyone's gotta be somewhere"

Sorry I missed that detailed history. Or maybe it was just a guess.

It's as boring as Jumpin' Jack Flash has been boring since 1975 - it's just something he says that is predictable and bland, nothing new and it's not even good anymore. Maybe the first tour it could have worked but he didn't put it to rest.

I'm with you there, Skipstone. It comes across as arrogant, as if he doesn't care what country or state he is in. Kind of an insult, even if that is not his intention.

Suggestions for new line for Keef?

It's good to be bad.

Got any smack?

Brenda will be back soon.

Bathrooms are now open.

I really can play and sing at the same time, really.

Who tuned this damn guitar?

I'm fatter than Ronnie, but slimmer than Taylor.

No need for any changes. He can keep churning out the same old hilarious stuff he has for years.

It was clever at first but it has grown pretty old now.
