Test your Stones trivia

There was last night a Finnish quiz competition called "Tupla ja kuitti" in television, and there was one guy competing for Rolling Stones trivia. The prize at this round was 8000 Euros.

Okay, it was quite a tough one - or was it? Test it yourself. Give yourself 5 minutes time - no reference books etc. - and think the tv cameras spotted at you and try to answer: What significance do the following dates have in the history of The Rolling Stones:

(1) 2.1.1964 (that was actually asked, but in reality it should be 1.1.1964)
(2) 5.6.1964
(3) 25.10.1964
(4) 25.6.1965
(5) 20.8.1965
(6) 6.12.1969

I wouldn't have passed it (to know all of them), nor did he. The next round would have been 16 000 Euros.

Each date have its own, individual story or significance. No common feature.

Apart from the last date which is pretty obvious the rest is rather tough. I think I know the answer for the number 5, possibly 2 and 3 too, but I won't give any answers and let the others have fun.

1. First time on tv
2. First US Tour
6. Altamont

The other ones I had to look up.... 4 is tough!

So number 5 is the release date of Satisfaction single isn't it?
I think 3 could be either release date of No.2 or start of their second US tour...

6 is Altamont (remember Americans, it's day then month elsewhere). That's why there's no 20th month! confused smiley

4 & 5. Release of "Satisfaction" and it hitting Number 1 ??????

1, 2, & 3. In no order - Brian is an assho#e for the first time, the others realize that Charlie is the coolest gut alive, Edith Grove gets cleaned up for the first (and last) time as the guys move out.

Okay, here are the right answers:

(1) First appearence in British TOP OF THE POPS television show (in the first program of the show ever).

(2) Their first American gig.

(3) The first appearence in ED SULLIVAN SHOW.

(4) Their first Finnish show (at Pori Yyteri Beach) - a legendary show in Finnish terms..

(5) The release of "Satisfaction" in UK.

(6) Altamont.

By heart I would have only known (4), (5), and (6).

I have an old paperback "The Rolling Stones Trivia Quiz Book" by Helen Rosenbaum from 1979; it's still on okay condition, anybody interested in this one?

not bad - i missed number 4 for some reason, though
8000 is a pretty fair sum! i wonder what round 2 would have been

Well, they started with 500 Euros, and one could have the money or double it and continue. That would mean that if one is not able to answer rightly to the next question, one will loose everything. That's the name of the show: "tupla tai kuitti", that is, "double or quit". So the guy managed 500, 1000, 2000 and 4000 Euro stages, but left without anything...

Hahaha I thought you meant the guy that posts here under the moniker Edith Grove.
