OT: A Great Led Zep Bootleg (MSG 2/12/1975)

I found an online source for this, and I'm astounded at the quality of the recording (it's a soundboard). Unfortunately, Robert was not 100%, as he was still recovering from the flu, but the band is in excellent form.

I only bring this up as there are some LZ fans here, and if you don't have this one, I recommend it.

This was the night it snowed, right? I have this and it's brilliant.

I recommend finding a torrent site with the Bluecongo Matrix version.

It's amixture of the soundboard and an audience tape and it sounds truly amazing.

Great soundboard!

Been around for several years.

Released first by Empress Valley as "Flying Circus"

I would only want the EV version "Flying Circus." Everything else is just tinkering with a copy of "Flying Circus"

The original is always best but some of the tinkering done to this one actually are upgrades! Especially the Matrix. It brings the flatness of the soundboard to life with ambiance.

My opinion only

This is definately a good one. I only have a couple of Led Zeppelin bootlegs (this one along with the 1/22/73 Southampton recording) but it's definately worth tracking down if you're a Zeppelin fan. I have a friend who sorta got me into Rolling Stones bootlegs years ago. He collects shows by lots of artists including Hendrix, Roy Buchanan, and the Stones but he's absolutely crazy about Led Zep. I asked him what recording he would recommend if I were going to get only one Zeppelin bootleg and he said that it depended on what era I liked of course, but he recommended this particular show.

^^^^ Try 9/29/71, Osaka, Japan. That is another one I would recommend. ^^^^

Based on performance, and sound quality.

This actually was a GREAT audie recording (Cant take your evil ways) and then a FABULOUS SB was released (ALOT of great SB's of them have been put out lately). BTW, the next night Woody plays on their encore Communication Breakdown (only an average audie is available).

I too am always dead against amateur tampering when it comes to bootlegs, the end results are almost always horrible, but the Matrix I recommend seems to work so well. To my ears it sounds like its just a overlay of the two sources and no other e'qing or pimping has been done to it. It sounds totally natural.
The addition of the audience recording to the soundboard just gives it a bit of extra ambience and atmosphere. Honestly, check it out, it's well worth it.
I had the soundboard for a number of years, but now I could never go back to it.

I just picked this up too. I was at that show although I really don't remember too much of it... wink wink, so it's great to hear it for the first time.
