Eddie is where Ms. Winehouse should be. The tour is off.
What started off as a promising project, with favorable gig reviews, is now facing a dead end. According to latest Van Halen rumors, the band's remaining tour dates have been cancelled due to guitarist Eddie Van Halen's "issues."
The band's long awaited North American tour, which kicked off in September, marked the first time singer David Lee Roth performed with the band in 22 years, joining Eddie Van Halen, Alex Van Halen and Wolfgang Van Halen, the elder Van Halen’s 16-year-old son.
Van Halen officials are yet to confirm the reports, but according to celebrity gossip website TMZ.com, arrangements are currently being made to cancel hotel stays for the tour, which was scheduled to continue through April 19th.
The group cancelled two concerts in Virginia and Georgia late last month but rescheduled the dates for mid-March. No reason was given for the postponements at the time.
Besides the rumored internal band tension, recent reports also suggested that the reason for the tour's cancellation is the guitarist's poor performance, as he appeared to be intoxicated during the band's latest gigs.
In March last year, Eddie Van Halen announced he was checking into rehab because, according to a statement he released at the time, he did not "feel that I can give you my best."
"That’s why I have decided to enter a rehabilitation facility to work on myself, so that in the future I can deliver the 110 percent that I feel I owe you and want to give you," the statement added.
Van Halen, which was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in March 2007, last toured in 2004 with vocalist Sammy Hagar, grossing nearly $40 million, according to Billboard Boxscore.
