You bore the daylights out of me, Helter.
with your repetitive slaggin' off 'bout Amy, on so many threads now.
and it doesn't get any better because you just found out how to post a video.
How many threads do you need to spread your venom?
One could see this as a campain against a single person, which doesn't comply with IORR rules, btw.

and I've gotta agree with Andrewm

Good Christ, what's with your obsession with endlessly offering up negatives on Amy Winehouse ? Seriously.

Natalie Cole was right about Amy Winehouse

This is an intentional bump.

I always like to revisit "minor" events in history once they become relevant again in light of greater events. I think Natalie Cole was absolutely right about Amy setting the wrong example.

The woman was addicted to some serious substances that led to her death at aged 27. I think setting examples were the least of her worries.

Plus, what's this whole thing about famous people setting examples about? If someone decides to take heroin because Amy or Keith Richards did, then they are beyond stupid.

The girl really has a problem, and I think for those of us who have been in the business long enough, we know the sacrifice it takes. This is about discipline and hard work, and you don't get to just do your drugs and go onstage and get rewarded."

As for whom Cole, whose new jazz CD will be out in August, would have lavished with Grammy gold, the singer replied, "Rihanna, even Beyoncé. "I just feel like they're ready to go the long haul. You can tell how hard they work, they're great people, their heart is in the right place. These are the people we should be praising, these are the people we should be encouraging."

"you don't get to just do your drugs and go onstage and get rewarded" Yes, you do. So artists that do drugs do not deserve recognition and those that don't dabble in drugs do because they're "great people" no matter the quality of their music? Are these the Grammy's or the Sobriety awards?

Cole must be on some sort of drugs if she thinks Rihanna and Beyoncé are in the same league as Amy. If I'm being really cynical, this could just be seen as a sad attempt at publicity as the article said she had a new CD coming out. What better way to get some publicity for yourself than by taking a pop at one of the biggest stars of the last few years?

I remember reading about this at the time and I wanted to give Natalie Cole the benefit of the doubt....thinking she was expressing actual concern about how sudden success and accolades would affect someone in the throes of addiction etc...as someone who had been there, done that, and didn't want to see another go down the same path.
But reading her actual comment, she really does seem like a sanctimonious hypocrite. I like Natalie Cole, but this was so misguided. Maybe she was jealous that Amy was so good despite her addiction, whereas, when she was high, she was shit and her career was in the shits.
Or maybe its her born-again status. Born-agains often forget their own faults and start believing in their own sanctity.
Shame.

I was very offended by Natalie Cole's remarks about Amy.
With Natalie's drug-ridden background, getting clean apparently didn't come with compassion.

I don't recall anyone ever asking Amy to "set an example". What a spoiled Yank twat thing to say. Typical of someone of that position - having become a name without doing anything remarkable in any way.

That's what is so sad IMO. You would think that through suffering, struggle comes real compassion.

Yes, I agree with you, Dragon Sky, but sticking the adjective "spoiled Yank" in there makes you look as big a twat as Natalie. Why don't you stick to insulting the singular twat who made such a silly statement instead of bringing in 311,799,999 other people along with it.

That was just a bullshit thing to say, man.

It's a bit f-ucked up considering Natalie Cole's own drug addled past, but she has a point. I'm sick of celebrity addicts getting a pass from people who normally wouldn't give such consideration to someone who wasn't famous. If Amy Winehouse were someone you knew, and was not a famous singer, you'd probably think she was a dirt bag you wouldn't let near your house. But because you like her one overrated album, she's gets a pass on everything.

BULLSHIT.
