Erik, I've heard about 5 to 6 songs on You Tube and now the one open-g left on another thread of mine - the Valentine one - and you know what, I've listened, I've looked, I've tried, but, in the end... SHE F*CKING SUCKS (one LAST time - she can't sing and she can't move. Keith can't sing but at least he's got soul - she ain't got that either) no way around it - there's just very little talent there, IT'S ALL GIMMICK (and you guys are falling for it). While Natalie Cole posesses a "pleasant talent," she wasted a a number of years embarrassing herself as a "super substance abuser. I was amazed to think she would speak out against anyone else in such a righteous, uncompassionate way.

I'm a huge Amy Winehouse fan - just, so that is clear I think she is the biggest talent to have emerged in quite some time. And I don't think her drug-related problems are "faked" for publicity - rather that her bad-girl rep has gone a bit out of hand.

As for the music - judge it on the music alone. I don't get this idea of having to put someone down to elevate somebody else.

I mean - either they are good or they are not. Music is not a competition. We're here to celebrate - mainly - the Rolling Stones and occasionally other groups or artists.

And I do not see how Amy Winehouse is better because somebody does not like Natalie Cole or worse because somebody likes Fiona Apple. I just don't get it. And why is that "chick singers" are always compared to other "chick singers"? Is she not in competetion with Justin Timberlake or whoever is filling up the air waves at this time?

As for the whole Natalie Cole business, if this thread is a response to her trashing Amy Winehouse, it rather seems to deflate the purpose if you just put NC down mindlessly - seing that is what we are accusing her of doing to AW in the first place?

There should be two points to this, IMHO:
1. Artists should not slag off other artists. Period!
2. Don't throw rocks if you live in a glasshouse yourself.

If you've liked Natalie Cole in the past, how can she suddenly be bad - musically speaking - because of her outburst and vice versa? But you can accuse her of being a hypocrite if only half of what is written about her own substance abuse is true.

As for hijacking this thread to trash Amy Winehouse - I believe there are four or five other threads for that "purpose" - this thread should be dealing with Natalie Cole slagging off Amy Winehouse - is it wrong or is it right? Simple as that
