Well...right...but a missing harmony vocal would not prevent a label like SODD from rushing out an "You Got The Silver Sessions" CD soon, right? At least it would be something new and unique on this label, not just the same old recycling job!

Hey, they could throw in the speeded up so-called "Keith version" of Far Away Eyes, dubbed with the correct speeded version, presented as a "bonus CDR"....only $20 dollars extra...

Thinking about it ... why SODD? Seems that we are creative enough and would form a perfect team! Let's start a bootleg label on our own! It's never too late! Another project could involve those 60's instrumental tracks like Satisfaction, Mother's Little Helper, Out Of Time, Let's Spend the Night Together and various from Between The Buttons and so on - we could dub them with our own vocals and sell them as "Ultra Ultra Ultra Mega Rare Trax Vol. 1 - The Lost Brian Jones Vocals", limited CD edition(s), five different sleeves, hand-numbered plus Vinyl editions in multicolor, 8 different unicolor versions and 10 handnumbered copies in black vinyl ... the possibilites are endless!

Definately Keiths song. Micks vocal performance sounds forced with absolutely no feeling behind it. Micks just singing the words-Keith is singing the song. About the "Keith" Gimme Shelter version thats on so many outtake cds, honestly I cant tell it is Keith. It sounds like Jagger to me but what do I know!

This is one of my 11 Stones favourities :
All down the line
Start me up
You got the silver
Around and around
little T&A
Gimme Shelter
Coming down again
Monkey Man
Honky tonk woman
Street fighting man
Jumping Jack Flesh
and many others.......................
I think that it`s great to hear Mick singing.Let`s say they will record new album - it could be fantastic to hear something like this recorded in this manner....deep tube compression on vocals and guitar as well.To me ears it sounds fresh.....great number from their golden era.Keith voice is something exceptionall and it is true.

That was interesting. Never heard that before. But the original has always been one of my favorite Stones tunes. When Keith did it for the first time ever on the No Security tour in Oakland,it was my single geatest Stones moment ever.

Both great versions, but I'm gonna have to go with Mick's version. I love how he just explodes at the end.

It works either way. Of course I like Keith's best.

Haven't heard the Gimme Shelter y'all are talkin' about. I've got one without Merry Clayton on it - it's not that one right?

The Mick Silver is more raw - and the song is obviously not finished instrumentation wise. The Keith Silver is flushed out...and perfect. I like the Mick Silver but I love the Keith Silver.

I think Mick does a better job than Keith on the song.

But I think Jimmie Dale Gilmore could do a better job than either one. Even Carla.

There's no doubt, Mick's version is the very best, it is perfectly delivered, has the right amount of emotion, excellent vocal.

Well, I am very fond of the Stones music and the webmaster hasn't banned me, so...

Let me clarify. I am saying "Jimmie Dale Gilmore could do a better job than either one and even Carla." Tongue in cheek...?

I don't mean "Even Carla is doing a better job than Mick or Keith."

To me, You Got The Silver, is a kind of a mark where Keith started to really grow as a lead singer, so. Definetly Keith's version, but it would have been fun to hear them sing it together!

I go with Keith on this. My understanding (from somewhere) was that Keith more or less deliberately 'lost' the Mick vocal (this being coincident with the shooting of Performance ...)

Keith's version of this song is one of the most touching and unadorned vocals I have ever heard on any rock record. His singing has an openness, a purity, and an undeniable truth to it...and it sounds like his heart is as tender and raw as the day it was first broken. Keith's version is simply stunning.

Jagger's vocals give the song an entirely different dynamic...Keith's pain and vulnerability are replaced by rougher and more truculent emotions. This is not to say that Jagger's version is not excellent...it is very powerful and compelling...but having listened to Keith's masterful touch on this song, Jagger's reading pales in comparison.

In this instance, Keith's vocals blow Mick's away. I've always found Mick's version one of his worst vocal performances.
