Led Zeppelin concert off until at least September

Not bad for me, because I am broken now, so it fits with my agenda

TOKYO (Reuters) - British rock band Led Zeppelin enjoyed jamming together again last year in a charity concert but won't have another session before September at the earliest, lead guitarist Jimmy Page said in Tokyo on Monday.

A successful reunion show in London in December rekindled hopes of a world tour, but Page said that singer Robert Plant's tour with U.S. country singer Alison Krauss is keeping him busy for now.

"I can assure you the amount of work that we put into the O2 (concert), for ourselves rehearsing and the staging of it, was probably what you put into a world tour," Page said.

But, "Robert Plant also had a parallel project running and he's really busy with that project, certainly until September, so I can't give you any news."

Page, in Tokyo to promote a greatest hits release, painted a happy picture of the reunion.

"It was exhilarating, fantastic, every week was a week to look forward to," he said. "We did the show and it was great."

The band, formed in 1968 by Page, Plant, bass guitarist John Paul Jones and drummer John Bonham, became arguably the world's biggest rock group by the early 1970s.

Their fourth album, released in 1971, included their most famous song, "Stairway to Heaven," while the band has sold an estimated 300 million albums worldwide.

The group decided to break up shortly after Bonham died in September 1980, although Page and Plant collaborated at times over the years.

Plant, Page and Jones performed together in London before about 20,000 fans on December 10, with Bonham's son Jason on the drums.

When the concert was announced, the Internet site selling tickets crashed with applications, while the possibility of a new world tour had fans around the globe excited.

Page said after many years the song indeed remained the same.

"That is what was so thrilling really -- to come together after all this time and find that there was so much chemistry and so much electricity involved in these four characters."

I'm sure that Mr Fisher's working overtime to build their stage. He won't be able to finish it befor September.

I wouldn't hold your breath guys, according to inside info.

Page is an eternal optimist as far as Zeppelin moving forward into the future, but not all parties involved feel the same way.

I think it would be neat if they would do their itenerary to match the 1980 Cancelled tour dates (Sorry for the spelling mistakes).

Oh hell we can still go sleepless at Bonnaroo......Plant/Krauss will probably be there as well as Tom Petty (hopefully)....maybe even Steve Winwood. Remember, you heard it here first.

i dont know if anyone else has been hearing this
but i have seen more than enough reports in the last 3 weeks saying that it won't be jason bonham on drums if they go on tour... but it might actually be Dave Grohl from Nirvana... Foo Fighters... Queens of the Stone Age... Nine inch Nails etc.

anyone else hearing this or am i crazy?

......of course you are not crazy, canadian.sway. If you were crazy you'd be naked, hopping down a busy street with one foot behind your head......As for that rumor about David Grohl, that is indeed a legitimate possibility. I have been hearing that for months now.

That would probably be correct as this morning in the Buffalo News a Tom Petty show with Steve Winwood was announced for June 21 at Darien Lake Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $75 - $95 and $35 for sitting in the grass.

Why bother? He doesn't even sound like Bonham. I would lose most my respect for the band if they replaced Jason with him...Unless Jason refuses to do it.

Isn't is clear this is just for the money and nothing else? Remember the days when it was fun and didn't cost five hundred quid for two people to watch a couple of hours of rock and roll?

They have the right to charge as much as they like, the consumer decides if they want to be part of it. They don't need the money, but that is not the point. If Robert Plant was greedy (he's not), he would scrap the Alison Krause tour and take advantage of outdoor summer weather for Zep dates.

Page just wants to play (of course for a price) and wants to go out on top.

Grohl said he'd love to do it, that's all that's been said. Nothing has been said about him actually doing it.

I'll second that opinion.
