How is this movie? I've never seen it. Is it worth watching?

It was on Dutch television last week. It's a nice movie, but not like top-westernmovies. Ned Kelly and his friends are real criminals imho and i won't get as much sympathy for him as i have for example for Wyatt Earp, Billy the Kid or Doc Holliday.

No - and Mick's 'Oirish' accent is only matched in its awfulness by the one Tom Cruise adopted for "Far And Away" (Mickey Rourke and Brad Pitt's Northern Irish accents were far worse though, it has to be said..)

Mick's been pretty good in most of his films but this wasnt one, unfortunately. He's not exactly helped by the bad script, in fairness.

i think some of the problem is that brian jones died right before the shooting of the film and if that were today i think they would of postponed shooting the film by a few weeks at least. mick and keith were hard on brian at times but i think they still cared alot about him.

They already had postponed the shoot due to the Stones wanting to prepare for Hyde Park. As you probably know, Mick was threatened with a lawsuit by the producers if he did not fly to Australia urgently after the show. Of course, by that time, Brian had died and Mick therefore had to miss his funeral. Things werent exactly helped when he got there and Marianne tried to kill herself and ended up in a coma - then to cap things off he accidentally tore his hand in an incident with a gun. Something of a doomed project from start to finish..but on the brightside at least he wrote Brown Sugar on his own when he was out there!

I saw a while ago while flipping thru channels. I went past it and then I thought wait, was that Mick running thru the woods with a rifle? I went back and that is what it was and I realized that it must be Ned Kelly. It was kind of funny, probably funnier than it was supposed to be. Mick delivered most of his lines soliloquy style, looking at the sky. I like the Waylon Jennings song.

What was I reading that had a letter or something that Mick wrote to Dylan where he wrote to Dylan 'I'm on an Australian mountain range"? I can't remember where I saw that.

Knowing Mick, thats probably the reason he signed up. It didnt turn out to be the kind of 'bush' he figured he was getting into.....

Ned Kelly was just a lousy movie, with a bad script and grade b acting. Don't even waste your time seeking it out. Performance on the other hand has stood up quite well for a "period piece", and I have enjoyed repeated viewings of Performance over the years.

It's hard to watch Mick in a movie. I can't help but think of him dancing on stage. Maybe that's why I think Ned Kelly is a silly movie.

I watched "Enigma" last night and spotted Jagger in the bar scene. The first time I watched it [about a year ago] I did not see him.
I enjoyed the whole movie, definitely a few notches above 'Ned Kelly'.

Yep..and the girl beside him is his daughter Lizzie, if I remember right. Blink and you'd miss it.

I always thought Mick deserved a LOT of credit for keeping that as a UK production and making sure the film remained reasonably true to the original story (although there were some inaccuracies in it), and resisting offers to sell it to Hollywood, where they wanted to rewrite the story to make the codebreakers American in order to make the film more box office friendly (a la the 'U-571' movie which had come out a year before and which dealt with a similar subject).

The problem with movies like this is that you only watch Mick Jegger and not the movie it self....................

Big news out of Australia this morning that forensic experts have confirmed that the human remains found buried at the old Pentridge prison in Melbourne are that of notorious Irish/Australian outlaw Ned Kelly

Waylon Jennings song was ok, it may have even been a minor hit.

watched many "westerns" in my life..... This movie IMO was awful with despicable acting... Not the right role for Mick, "Performance", though, certainly was!
