Yeah it does take time for the pics to load, but surely it's worth the wait!? I prefer having the 'sets' together in one post rather than posting one at a time.

Thank you for such a great site! I've edited the venue accordingly. I have no idea how to contact Giovanni... it would maybe be a good idea to keep the presence of these pics online quiet if you get what I mean!? :-()

Most likely it will have been on Get off of My Cloud. The positioning of his hands suggests this also, as if he's playing the high up repetitive part.

During that tour he also played organ on Lets Spend The Night Together, recorder on Ruby Tuesday, dulcimer on Lady Jane, harmonica on Going Home and Not Fade Away.

"Nanker Phelge turned up underneath quite a few 'B' and LP titles, but these were not, as many people thought, hiding the identity of Mick and Keith, but covered the whole group, so that they could all share the royalties."

And we all know where these gracious ambitions went...

That guy, is the one and only Ry Cooder.

Three interesting things about those pics...

a) Ry's stratocaster has a bound neck b) Ry is plugged in to a solid state Vox Foundation Bass amp, c) in the last pic there's a MKII Mellotron on the far right just in front of Charlie. :-)

d) Brian Jones is still there - looks even concentrating on the tune (whatever it is) and co-working with Mick and Keith (not for example, reading books of anatomy or something)

Yes, but co working? He's sitting beside them with a guitar, that's all the photos show. Just like the spring 69 Olympic Studios pics where he couldn't even tune his guitar...

I see it more as he's on acoustic with a mic far from his guitar in a room with drums and electric piano's and guitars. Basically, you ain't going to be hearing much of whatever he is playing whether they are recording or not.

Play an acoustic with other musicians plugged in to amps and with a full drum kit playing then get back to me.

Says who? You dont know that, it's just a theory. No proof at all.

To which part of my post? The tuning part? Well there was a certain photographer present who's recollections include Brian being unable to tune his guitar, asking him to play notes on a piano for Brian to tune to and also that his mic was not turned on.

Those photos show Brian sitting playing acoustic guitar beside Mick and Keith, everything else is indeed open to interpretation.

But, the general 'bigger picture' of that time is that Brian was not an integral member of the band.... I mean, There's a possible replacement playing in the same room for a start. :-)

yeah, regarding those 1969 Olympic Studios shots that is indeed the way the photographer recalls it.
as for these Fifth Dimension shots, Doxa seems to hear a lot with his/her eyes too. :E
me i'm just trying to understand the layout of the room(s) in the Fifth Dimension -
[peering hard:] the carpet they're sitting on in the first photo
isn't the one we see in the background in the last shot, is it?

No, Keith and Brian are at the opposite end of the room just out of shot in the last pic.

The pics are from the wonderful Michael Cooper 'tribute' book The Early Stones by Terry Southern. Other pics from this series(which didn't scan so well) show that K & B are seated at the opposite end of the room facing Ry, Charlie etc.

*Thank you Michael Cooper for your amazing photographs!*
