LED ZEP FANS DESPERATE FOR TICKETS

26th October 2007

Led Zeppelin fans have resorted to desperate measures in a bid to bag tickets for the band's reunion.

The group are reforming for a one-off charity gig at London's O2 Arena next month and more than one million people applied for the 20,000 tickets on offer.

Virgin Radio breakfast DJ Christian O'Connell had a pair to give away on his show and challenged listeners to demonstrate just how much they wanted them.

Ray Daniel, a fireman from Swanley, Kent, turned up at the central London studio and stripped naked before streaking around Soho.

"I saw them in '74 in Earls Court and it was the best concert I've ever seen," he said.

Mark Barnham got up at 3am - on his wedding anniversary - and drove from his Brighton home to the Virgin headquarters where he shaved off his hair, the first time it had been cut in 21 years.

One man walked from Dartford in Kent to the London studio with 'Led Zeppelin' emblazoned on his bare chest in permanent marker.

A listener offered a signed 2006 World Cup England shirt signed by Wayne Rooney and David Beckham, while another volunteered to drive his car off the white cliffs of Dover.

But the winner was Grant Marzell, 37, from Hainault, Essex. He arrived at the studio and waxed his chest live on air.

Worried that his stunt wasn't enough to land the prize, he went off and had the Virgin Radio logo tattooed on his arm. And he promptly burst into tears when told he had won.

I would wait until someone comes along and
gives me one.

I'd streak around Soho as well,
but I might make several people sick in the process!

I hope they can pull this off. Since I live in the US, I'll have to wait for the DVD to come out.

That's actually what a friend of mine told me when he heard I had paid 130 Euros for Stones in Copenhagen. He stated that he'd never pay that amount of money for seeing a bunch of dinasours who don't even know the opening riff of Brown Sugar anymore, but if somebody had given him a hot-seat for free he just might have attended....

I would pay the orginal price of the ticket, when it's not so expensive on a ticket-box.

Again, I have typed this, before and I will type it again! There should be no agony of not having a ticket to a game, rock concert, World Wrestling or whatever the event entails.

Never buy a ticket online or at a store. Simply go to the concert and be patient. THERE ARE ALWAYS EXTRA TICKETS!!! 10 minutes before the event you make your move.. "Sir I love _______ however I do not have much money. You are now holding tickets..You will still be holding those tickets if I do not buy them. Here is my offer"

Wouldn't do anything for a ticket, because every time they reunited for a one show off in the past, it was lousy!

Keep on rollin'

Thanks Skelter.....knowing how much I like to drink that's a very generous gift....and when you say "date," you don't really mean at a restaurant do you?

That might work if there are lots of sellers. But if only a couple of guys have tickets and 50 people like yourself are looking for them, you might be listening thru the cracks in the door.

Robert Plant said that there will not be a tour and that when they were at there hight in the seventies they blew away bands like the Stones and The Who, What a big head, I love Led Zep but you would never hear Mick Jagger talk like that

Zepplin never did a thing for me. I quote the philospher Billy Idol:

"Robert Plant can sing and Mick Jagger can't. But do I listen to Robert Plant? No, I listen to Mick Jagger. Why? Because he can't sing and he sounds great."

What - the lead singer of the band who released a live album which includes an opening where the MC announces them as "the greatest rock 'n' roll band in the world" ?

I'd love to be there in O2.
but I won't do anything such as these guys did...even for the Rolling Stones (I mean it)...

...Except one thing : queuing ! but now with these call centers money rock and roll is no longer rock or roll but more business.

This usually works. However, in my personal experience, I can tell you that on many occasions, it does not. The Super Bowl and the World Cup finals are no-brainers. For something closer to home, how many people were able to get tickets at the last minute to see the Stones at the MGM Grand or Madison Square Garden on their last run-through? Didn't think so...

I think that the demand for the Zep show is off the charts.
