Rough Justice in future?
Posted by: RollingStonesFan ()

Sometimes during the 2007-shows, I though "Oh No Not This Again", when the Stones played Rough Justice, the only ABB-song beside ONNYA at Budapest, as song #3. At the latest shows in 2007, Hamburg and three times at London, I was happy that they had choosen that song as most-played ABB-tune. For me, although ONNYA is the better song in musical terms, Rough Justice sounds as a real Stones classic! In 2006, they played it mostly on B-stage between the old warhorses Miss You and Start Me Up - and I guess, most of the people in the stadiums, who didn't know that it was from 2005 thought it was a classic.
For future shows I wish they'd play Rough Justice at the end of the show, almost on the same level as JJF or Brown Sugar. Would be a great honor for this great new but classic rock-song!

In Brno, you mean? Rough Justice was played in Budapest.
In Barcelona, they also played Streets Of Love.

Rough Justice

Oh No Not You Again

are Stones classics!

As I see it, the best possible future for Rough Justice would be to be chosen to be a "new You Got Me Rocking". In other words, a war horse that's not a classic. I don't see that happening, though.

I think it's a great song, and I think it COULD be a warhorse. However, it seems like a tricky song to sing. It's not the easiest song for Mick, as compared to YGMR or JJF, etc.

Oh, really, RM? I like RJ better.
Is SOL A-side, why, because of the video?

Rough Justice was the A-side in the States, whilist the UK and Europe had Streets Of Love.

The Streets Of Love video was rubbish. Did it even get played? I only saw it the once on that VH1 docoumentary they did.

"Rough Justice" a classic?

Never mind the semantics of 'classic' but I don't see any distinguished features in this song - it is very regular Stones number, build on ideas they have repeated for decades. They have better and much original songs made of those elements. Well, if people find "You Got Me Rocking" as a classic, then this one is too - but then we need another term for songs like "Jumping Jack Flash", "Brown Sugar" etc.

why people call very formulaic songs like Rough Justice "classic" and almost never mention even harder rocking, but melodically much stronger songs like "Too Tight" is beyond me.

Too Tight is in a different leauge to Rough Justice. Far, far superior imo.

It wouldn't agrieve me, if i never heard RJ, again.

cringeworthy, lazy, embarrasingly bad lyrics.
horrible.
they could do so much better.
..sorry.

As usual I agree with Adrian on this one. Rough Justice is a filler track at best. Choosing it as the sole tune from A Bigger Bang on the Euro shows a few months back was a disgrace. If you want to showcase one song, at least choose something with substance. Rain Fall Down would of being far more fitting.
