re-master Get Yer Yas Yas Out petition
Posted by: Sighunt ()
Date: October 17, 2007 23:41

After several weeks of working together with various Stones fans, what started out as a small group project has blossomed into many, many interested fans who helped organize and generate a petition for the re-release of Get Yer Yas Yas Out in a complete and extended format...Once we get enough signatures, this petition will be forwarded to the Stones organization to demonstrate our serious intent for this project. We encourage the users of this website to go to the following site and add your names so this project can become a reality:

I'd certainly buy it if it was released. While we are at it how about a petition for a '72 or '73 live release?

And while we're at it, can we petition for a remaster of everything from Sticky Fingers onward? It irks me that the Black Crowes (remastered in 2002) sound way better on my car stereo than the Stones (remastered in 1994).

This is a no-brainer. It has to happen. (See the Zeppelin thread by bassplayer617).

Unless there is some kind of legal issue tying this up, I can't see why they have not revisted this. When you think of all the stupid questions that get asked in interviews with the members of the band this is one that should be constantly brought up.

Mick prides himself on being so detailed orientated and business savy well this is one area that he has a bad track record on.

Please bear with us guys; we are having some technical problems at this site. It will be up and running soon. Stay hard.

Are U referring to remastering Ya-Yas specifically, or the whole back catalog?

I like the idea! Maybe Ya Yas could be the door opener for more things to come.

But even if it's tempting to think of all those possibilities, we should join forces on one exemplary request at first: Ya Yas - the icebreaker edition...?

Great great idea. I've signed the petition.

What about the complete "Love you Live"? (les abattoirs Paris june 1976) incl. the 2 Billy Preston songs????

Mmmm.
Not sure I've heard a modern digital re-master of anything that didn't throw out the bay by with the bathwater !
Though it would obviously be nice to hear the extra or missing bits.

My vision for Ya-ya's would be a special edition that included the original 10-song sequencing of the album, as well as an extended version. And maybe some Maysles footage of the photo shoot for the cover. I want to witness the moment that the jewels and binoculars were hung on the head of the mule. In Gimme Shelter, I don't see them hanging from the mule's head. I could be wrong.

By the way, Spud, I always get sad when I walk past a Dumpster and see a tub of dirty bathwater with a baby wading in it. Sometimes the baby's skin is all wrinkly, as you just know that it has been in the bathwater too long. I always shake my head and say to myself, "Man, that is so sad." If a few more days go by and I see that the baby is still laying in the bathwater, I say "Gosh, I hope that the trash truck is coming around soon."

This is the original circular from Oeds Jan Koster who has arranged the petition website. This explains how to sign and why there may be short delays whilst he puts up another page for signatures:

After much discussion, we've put together a petition you can
read on this website: [www.geocities.com]
On the homepage you can click on the link for the petition
and in the guest-book please act as follows:
under 'first name' enter just your first name, under URL enter
your email address, and under 'comments' please enter your state of
origin.
Upon completion we will contact Chuck Leavell who will bring our
request to the Stones.
In the guest-book only 50 entries are allowed, then the guest-book is full.
Each 50 entries will be put in an archive, shown at the homepage of the
above mentioned website. This process of archiving will take some time.
This minor inconvenience will mean that sometimes you will have to wait a while
before you will be able to sign the guest-book.
We ask your understanding for this.
On behalf of a group of dedicated Stones fans,
Oeds Jan

The actual shooting of the cover shot took place in London, February 1970. Apperently the photo's taken in Alabame did not work out.

I don't know if I want an extended Ya-Ya's. It's probably going to be the same with Live at Leeds by the Who. The original 6 track album is one of the best live albums ever, the deluxe version totally misses the impact of the original. There is a reason why they ommited many songs in the first place.

Release Brussels '73 instead, or a LA '75 show complete, or a good video of a '78 show.

Point of detail: As an IORR member and Donkey owner I must point out that the Ya Ya's cover definately features a DONKEY (also known as an Ass). A mule is a hybrid, and basically is a the result of a cross between a donkey and a horse, and generally has the body of a horse with the extremities of a donkey. The Ya-Ya's cover as seen being photographed in the Gimme Shelter film features a standard size british donkey I think on the Westway in London.....

I don't think it will happen but I would rather have an LA 75 show before a re-mastered Ya-Ya's...... No doubting the genius of the 69 material but if you include the fabulous Satisfaction from the Gimme Shelter soundtrack you have nearly an entire show..... whereas we don't have any really good soundboards from 75 whatsoever - Detroit, Buffalo and the LA video audio are ok but no more than that in my opinion.

That said, I will sign the petition.

There's nothing wrong with Ya Ya's.... so I don't feel the need of releasing remastered version just release "Ya Ya's II"

I agree with Nicos. It sounds fine.

If I could expand...Just realease a side 2 with Satisfaction, Gimme Shelter, Under My Thumb Im Free You Gotta Move, Prodigal son and some stuff from BB king and The Ike & Tina Turner Review who opened for them.
