Going to finally see Mick Taylor!
Date: October 14, 2007 07:57

Tuesday October 16th here in Washington DC! as part of the experience hendrix... i am very excited!

anyone else going?..i did a search of mick taylor and experience hendrix and came up with nothing...did one of mick taylor and dc came up with OpenG is going too...

buddy guy will be there too! and hubert sumlin who played guitar for howlin wolf... and double trouble and billy cox and some others

i am so appreciative of mick taylor's contributions to the stones that to finally see the man is great..he's been like avoiding the US for the past few years..not sure why he doesn't come more.. maybe this high profile event will help rekindle things for him...

i'd say to meet before show but there is no bar that near... i will be drinking thats for sure.. the place is known for kicking people out for smokin' so be careful..

Too bad he has to leech off the memory of Jimi. Has Mick Taylor EVER done anything original? He is somewhat talented, but he has no imagination at all. I know he has original songs, but I'm talking about something that doesn't suck. Is he really the most useless Stone? I think so.

Having seen him perform live a few years ago in Portland, ME, I concur that it is a mystery he isn't more visible and prosperous. I think this Jimi Hendrix Exp. thing is kinda cool, though. I'm not sure if MT is really much of a solo artist. He's a legendary guitarist, though, and ought to be doing big stuff with big musicians. I wish the Stones would invite him to play on an album (and actually give him credit), as I think he could add a lot both musically and profit-wise, considering the market for nostalgia!

At least MT is out there playing and not molding away somewhere in a corner.

Cheese doesn't get to mold away somewhere in a corner either, with Taylor around. Why would the Stones want him back? Why would they not give him credit? During the band intro's do you think Jagger would say:"And on guitar......some fatass....don't really know his name but I think he may be the guy who had nothing to do with Time Waits For No One......The dude with the Les Paul!!!".

"He's a legendary guitarist, though, and ought to be doing big stuff with big musicians."

He is a BIG musician, too.

Your Mick Taylor comments are boring and predictable, yap yap.....not very creative......don't you have any new material?

I will be there, with my stones shirt on!!!!

just getting up here...11:25 am...

well they are all playing at DAR Constitution Hall.. the place has good sound on floor and lower seats but otherwise sound gets a bit diffuse i think....

this is basically a semi tribute to hendrix.. i see nothing wrong with it...obviously mick taylor has been invited because its generally accepted that he is one of the greatest guitar players of the past 40 years .. no ifs yap and yap or buts yap about it.. i mean when you got hubert sumlin and buddy guy playing at the same event that tells you something..also robby or robbie krieger of the doors will be theere too..

i too will likely wear my stones shirt... i'd love to somehow run into mick taylor and thank him (and ask him to come back to the east coast!)...

these shows are a hot ticket.. the premium seats for the beacon theatre shows in new york are going for hundreds of bucks and i think it has to do with stones fans..

how people can call themselves stones fans and make fun of mick taylor boggles the mind..but lets leave it at that as this post is about being excited to see mick taylor after a lifetime of listening to his guitar on most of my favorite stones songs....

The sound does bounce around in there a bit.

Nice place to see a show, but as for listening not so good.

Don't expect it to be rock'n roll (in case you do). It's strictly blues, he has changed just as much as the Stones....His style is (IMO) sort of more sophisticated than when he played with Keith. If you like the kind of blues he plays nowadays, you'll have a great time watching a great guitarplayer!

BTW, thanks OWL.

I'm going the show in NYC the following monday. Looking forward to seeing several excellent guitarists, particularly taylor, whom I've never seen perform.

Hmmm...and I thought I had alot of time on my hands.
Maybe if I get bored enough, I'll say something crappy about Charlie...
hoping all the Charlie fans fall for the trap! Exciting!
