whats kind of interesting is someone (who did a really bad job) photoshopped the pant pattern over the patches on Keefs pants. Didn't like that raggamuffin look I guess.

An in joke about his Keef's patches or too much b&w tone adjustment .....

yeah this could have been done way before photochop, or personal computers for that matter, done the hard way on the negative stripping phase of the print job.

But I am confused and don't want to dig out my copy, I assume the blank patch was the real photo and then the patterns and color stripped in afterwards? Never really noticed any of this before. I think the album photo was either b&w or very monotone.

The Russians Are Coming.

Just got Afrikan Blood great cultural compilation on Studio 1, red vinyl.

If you could get past the historically dodgy pressings, Studio 1 rules the roost. Heartbeat and Soul Jazz smoothed out some of the edges but the originals were always the best.

ya man I think I ordered some stuff through him, back before the internet when it was all lists and stuff.

The Afrikan Blood LP I just got is through Yep Roc, Chris Wilson of Heartbeat either owns it or has something to do with it. It sounds smooth and heavy.

Andrew Oldham stole a single record "Time Is On My Side" from Tommy LiPuma's collection before the stones released it.

BRIT AWARDS 2021 HONOUR PHIL SPECTOR

The BRIT Awards 2021 has included Phil Spector in the obituaries section of its website.

The tribute to the late producer, which coincides with the May 11 awards, may prove controversial, reported the NME. In 2009, Spector was convicted for the 2003 murder of actress Lana Clarkson. He died in January aged 81 while serving a 19-year sentence. The BRITS' obituary to Spector reads: "American record producer, songwriter and pioneer of the iconic 'Wall of Sound', who will equally be remembered for his conviction for murder of the actress Lana Clarkson. Spector collaborated with many of the greats including The Beatles individually and as a band - producing 'Let It Be' and 'Imagine' - The Righteous Brothers, Leonard Cohen and The Ronettes, and also wrote numerous era-defining songs."

LLOYD PRICE R.I.P. 1933 - 2021

Lloyd Price, the singer of 'Stagger Lee' known as "Mr Personality", has died, his wife Jackie has confirmed. The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame honouree died on May 3 from complications with diabetes. He was 88 years old. His songs were covered by many others. Among the artists who recorded versions of "Lawdy Miss Clawdy" were Elvis Presley and Paul McCartney.

His breakout success with Specialty Records came to an end when he was drafted in 1953, leaving the label to focus instead on Little Richard and Larry Williams, Price's onetime chauffeur. After returning to civilian life in 1954, Price founded his own record company, KRC. Price later signed directly to ABC-Paramount and soon had his greatest success with the song "Stagger Lee". His upbeat take on a folk song that had been recorded numerous times since the 1920s, it reached No. 1 on both the pop and R&B charts in 1959. Price reached the Top 40 for the last time with a version of the standard "Misty" in 1963, but by that time his star in the music world was fading.

That's a still from an advert for AudioBooks.

And that means it's actually a very subliminal advert for Matt Lee's forthcoming book that's also called "Hot Stuff", although how Matt hopes to turn his exceptionally outstanding book on Memorabilia into an AudioBook isn't clear to me.
