whats the stones connection, rockman?

tubbys was just used for voicing, mostly over riddims recorded down the lane at Channel One. there wasn't room there for actual instrumental recording, just mixing and voicing and of course trademark dub plates (aka acetates in our world)

all those people were strung out on smack back then, it was part of the reason I divorced myself from several situations in those days. Didn't need the monkey, not at all. Chose life and herbs instead of that death trip.

I don't confuse personal character traits with the ability to, for instance, make music. Most of my musical heroes have revealed themselves to be less than perfect. They are not my friends, they are musical heroes, so their vices are of little concern to me.

However, I always thought heroin in particular was an especially soul-killing drug, and tells one something of the character of the person who chooses to allow it to take them over. And I think it rarely increases their productivity or creativity.

I just read Ginger Baker's autobiography and was taken by how easy it was to get smack from the government when he was growing up. And that they gave you cocaine as well, to get you up and moving from the heroin stupor. So they were supplying you with speedballs! Consequently he had a life long habit that he was perpetually trying to kick only to go back to it as soon as whatever crisis passed.

With that in mind it is a lot easier to see how everyone was strung out around those times. Most of my personal interaction with junkies involved them stealing me blind or otherwise bad karma, since they had to steal to raise money to get their fix. Consequently it was a very hard life for them and they passed that misery on to those around them. Impossible to think you could do that and actually function in society. But over there in England it was much more a common thing, and cheap pharmaceutical drugs were only an easily obtained prescription away.

The Beach Boys are a whole other matter of course. Only really dug their first few songs and then that Holland set. Rest of it, meh, don't see the attraction. Never thought their problems came from drugs necessarily, maybe brother Brian's state had something to do with them, I just thought the music industry and their father did a number on their psyche back then.

From yesterday's Japanese news media:

Nothing has been officially announced at this time and it's rumored that the Rolling Stones may have a North American stadium tour this year.
On February 3, an 8-second video of the “tongue” logo in the sky was uploaded to the Stones SNS page. The title is “Feeling restless”.
The Stones fan site It's Only Rock'n Roll (https://iorr.org/) has already begun to predict where the tour will take place,
but according to the Star Tribune dated February 3, ice statue of the Stones Tongue Mark has installed in the skyscraper “IDS Tower” in Minneapolis,
and a photo of the ice statue will be posted on February 6 expecting the city of Minneapolis will announce one “concert”.
The Stones dropped the same “hint” when announcing their 2019 North American tour, and Ronnie Wood said he would like to release a new album as of last December and start the tour.
