yeah, what ya gonna do? I got decades of enjoyment from it. Route 66 was the first Stones track I ever heard. Mum and Dad got me a little Philips record player for Christmas in 64 I think, with some Seekers singles. Not really into them! Months later, listening to cricket from England on an old crystal set (remember those, the original iPod!!?!?!?!?)in my bedroom in Perth one night and the dial slipped....onto Radio Luxembourg I think (or Caroline?) and Route 66 was on. Jaw dropped....and 5 decades later my chins have caught up with it...

…. Seekers … yeah they were my dad's favourite
group and when they knocked The Stones off the top
of the charts he laughed his head off and kept ribbing me night and day ….. …..hey Great times though

Was that Perth Scotland or Perth WA?

Getting Radio Luxembourg on a radio in the UK was hard enough, so it's darned impressive if there was some gap in the space time continuum that allowed it to be received in Western Australia!

What an horrible review wrapped up in treacherous praise.

Perth, Western Australia. And once I found it, I never moved that dial again! “Discovered“ The Stones, Jethro Tull, The Kinks, Eric Burden & the Animals and eventually Led Zeppelin and The Moody Blues courtesy of that little crystal set. All local radio in Perth knew about “pop” music in the early days were of course that little band from Liverpool, Herman’s Hermits, Gerry and the Pacemakers, etc. It took then a while to break out to rock here!
