I agree with Jennifer; Sticky Fingers is a gloomy and moody record. I did, like her, listened to it, both sides in a row many, many times, alone, fascinated and drawn into the StickyF. vortex. Listening to SF during the adolescence was quite an experience because it was the right time to uniquely become aware of new emotions; it was a necessary ritual to access the gravity of future adulthood.
Rockandroll,
Mops

dear Rockman
thanks for sharing about Sister Rosetta and Gospel
I think I knew her name thanks to this Robert Plant Alison Kraus song
I am sure that the Staples Singers have their place too.

dear Mister Rockman
I hope I can catch the How they got over doco.

The Sister vid is a piece of history ! Maybe the stage entrance ever smiling smiley As Taj Mahal would say "she caught the katy".

I wonder who got the idea to make her play outside with wind and humidity ! I admire both musicians and audience.

My memory is telling me that the film was from a 1964 TV show that for reasons unknown they decided to film at that railway station. She's not the only performer there... there's more.

If you Google "sister rosetta railway platform" - you'll see the answer, and a link to more film and mention of Muddy Waters! "programme called Blues and Gospel Train with Muddy Waters, Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Rev. Gary Davis and others"

A pal in the UK tells me... "This is part of the Blues tour of Europe" and that there's a box set.

So, that's where you can get a legal and good copy of that amazing show.

Thanks for the comments about the Blues and Gospel Train show. I did not know that.

If I remember correctly, Keith wrote in Life that he went to see the American Folk Blues Festival im the early 60's with Mick, surely near London.
