"In early '64, the group did their first tour of the U.K., headlining over a band called the Rolling Stones. From all reports, the two groups became quite friendly (the Ronettes also socialized with the Beatles: rumor was that George Harrison and Nedra Talley were an item). More than fifty years later, inducting the Ronettes into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Keith Richards recalled hearing Ronnie's "pure, pure voice" coming from the girls' dressing room. "I realized," he confessed, "despite Jack Nitzsche's beautiful arrangement, that they could sing all their way through a Wall of Sound. They didn't need anything. They touched my heart right there and then, and they touch it still."

On October 10, 1961 Brian Jones attended a concert at Cheltenham Town Hall by Chris Barber's Jazz Band featuring Alexis Korner on guitar who also performed a short R 'n' B set during the show's intermission.
After the gig, Brian got talking to Alexis in a local bar about their mutual love of Chicago R 'n' B and Alexis gave him his address and phone number telling him to get in contact should he ever find himself in London.
A Stone had started to roll.

To his great credit Bill Wyman is pretty pissed, you can see him complaining on YouTube about it, saying it's nonsense and that Brian formed the group... he's like the conscience and the talisman of The Rolling Stones.
