New Ron Wood "On Stage" Prints (3)
Posted by: timbernardis ()
Date: September 28, 2007 03:40

From the San Francisco gallery that has carried his art since the beginning:

We just got word that these prints are available, we’re putting together a more polished version of this, but I’m sending this out to those of you who might want to jump on this right away! Read on!

On Stage with the Stones!

Attached are images of Ronnie’s latest release! The suite is called On Stage and is comprised of three pieces: Play on Hands, Twang and Weaving.

They will be announced to the public at Art Expo tomorrow.

Here are the specs:

Edition of 295

Digital and Screenprint on Paper

Each Print is 29.5" high x 19.5" wide

Individually Priced at $ 2,250

Suite Price is $6,000

(after a pre-determined number sell, the price will increase – possibly substantially based upon early reactions among dealers)

"Weaving"

"PlayOnHands"

"Twang"

My only regret -- THE PLEXIGLASS cannot be seen in any of the 3.

there is some talk that "hands" and "twang" need to have their names reversed (the press release may be wrong). seems logical I suppose.

Weaving would also be a logical title for the one now labelled Twang -
i guess we'll find out someday which is which. meanwhile, i like all three of 'em

these titles were on the attachment files for each of the 3 as sent me by Melissa of the San Francisco Art Exchange.

I just wanted to confirm that the titles are correct as published above. I agree they do appear to be the wrong way round but this is the way the actual pieces are titled.

If anyone would like more information on this suite or indeed any of Ronnie's art please just drop me an email at: mattleeuk@gmail.com

I can have the sent art direct to you and gain you access to a special fan discount! Please just mention IORR when you email me!

Thanks,
Matt

i think he's getting better - the 2nd and 3rd ones (whatever their titles) capture them all pretty well, especially the 2nd one.

... well, that's not how i look at Ronnie's portrayals of his bandmates.
it's so interesting to see what he chooses to convey -
his perception of Mick in particular seems to change a lot over the years.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess, because strangely enough I think precisely the opposite, I think they're poor. I don't think any significant work, effort, or imagination has gone into them. For me, a bit of a giant step backwards by Sir Ron of Kingston I'm afraid.

You heathen! You KNOW NOT The Plexiglass! You are going to continue to hear and hear about it until you reach a state of Enlightenment. And that is just the beginning! Now go back to Tref!

Sorry, I've tried REALLY hard to like Ronnie's stuff but I can't. It looks like something a 17 year old fan would draw and send in.

lol...i guess i was mostly referring to the background mick image in the 2nd one "play on hands" - i think he really captured mick well in that one. in "twang" ron and keith do look a little cartoonish...

Thanks for posting that sssoul. No doubt about it really, the resemblance is too great. Come on Sir Ron, you can do better than that ...

well, Ronnie's done a lot of work based on photographs -
i didn't post that as an "accusation". :E
i'm not saying i think this series is among his Greatest Works,
but Twang appeals to me. i like the humour in it.

meanwhile, thank you kindly for The Doctor, Rockman honey!

San Francisco Art Exchange has got the largest permanent Ronnie Wood exhibition in the world as far as I know. You may walk in the door there and see a bunch of great items at all times. Just make sure you do NOT bring your credit card, and don't sign any deals unless you can really afford it. Worth a visit if you are in SF. Also, they have a lot of samples on their web site for viewing : [www.sfae.com]

Actually, the SFAE has a very large collection of rock n roll art in general, not just Ronnie Wood. Last Dec, Melissa took me not only thru all their regular exhibit rooms, but into their "storage" areas where loads of prints were standing on the floor and leaning up against the wall -- several stacks of several prints each.

And then of course they have the catalogs of ALL Ron Wood art, including the pieces that they do not actually have in stock.
