there are several instruments in these shots that don't seem to show up on stage,
but ... well, there they are.

looks like a Dan Armstrong on the far left?
and a Les Paul next to it - could it be a Goldtop, maybe? Blondie uses one ...
and then next to that is some intriguing-looking 5-string - what is that??

Just came accross Blue Lena's updated site about Keith's guitars, featuring Johnny Starbuck and Rich of Wesellguitars.
It's quite nice and similar with infos like this thread, but not as complex as the Ratbag Boogie.
...and... there is one big factual mistake eye popping smiley

The caption for Malcolm shows a pic of the blonde, white pick-guard, 6-string, single-coil Telecaster with rosewood fretboard.
c'mon Lena, that's not Malcolm.

you had it right on the main page.
>>MALCOLM
Keith's second Tele is also from the 50's. It has a black pickguard, five strings, natural finish so that you can see the grain in the body. The pickups & mods are the same as Micawber & this Tele stays capoed at the 4th fret. Keith uses Shubb capoes. Tuned in B: B, F#,B, D#,F#. This Tele is a little louder and somewhat brighter than Micawber and can be heard onstage for Tumbling Dice, Happy, Jumping jack Flash.<<

Re: Johnny Starbuck's work station courtesy of WeSellGuitars

I started trolling the web pages of IORR.org in the fall of '06, a few weeks before the Rolling Stones were scheduled to play at the Beacon Theater in NYC. The Beacon is near where I work. For about a week I had walked over to the Beacon every day at lunch time. I was hoping to arrive at the box office to find Stones tickets on sale to the general public (instead of a handwritten sign reading "We Do Not Have Any Rolling Stones Tickets To Sell" taped to the window).

I tried to befriend the theater's maintenance man. I tried to flirt with the girl in the box office. I fantasized about hiding in the theater's air conditioning ducts for a week or so. (I ruled that idea out for a couple reasons, not the least of which was a realization that the presence of a former US President in the building would probably mean a sweep of the building by Secret Service agents with guns and dogs.)

One day I was walking past the back of the theater. In my pocket I had an envelope containg a letter that I had written... addressed to the Stones and M. Scorsese. In the note, I pleaded for a chance to see the Stones in the Beacon. I was such a deserving lifelong fan, I explained.... But how would I get it to them?

In back of the theater there were several trucks, crates, crew, security, passersby. I approached a member of the crew. I tried to strike up a casual conversation. "Wow... you work for the Stones?" I asked. He said yeah. I tried to find something to talk about... asking about the portable air conditioning trucks and ducts going into the back of the theater.

"You know... I have been a Stones fan since I was just a kid," I told him. "I've seen them on every tour since 1969. I would love to see this show... I wrote this note here. I hoping to find someone who'll give it to the stones or Scorsese. Please."

I handed him the envelope. "You found a good person for that," he told me. He introduced himself, "My name's Johnny Starbuck." I wish that I had known back then who he was, but I didn't. We walked across the street into a deli. I walked back to work, and I never found out what he did with the note. I didn't get to see the concert.

I remember when they used to change guitar strings on stage during the show. Anaheim 1 in 1978 was a good example.

Notice on the bridge pickup of Micawber that the magnet, under where the low 'E' string would be, has been removed and the hole araldited up........to remove any sonic interference from the 5th string on the 6th string magnet.

Happy to be here....Happy to be anywhere.....

I've often wondered exactly how that bridge pup is secured on Micawber.
What is used to stabilise its front side ? In some shots you can see something plastic or rubbery looking through the screw hole in the bridge plate.

Re: Johnny Starbuck's work station courtesy of WeSellGuitars

Well I guess 2 screws can hold the pup in place as theres not much strain to it . it ain't going nowhere.
I wonder if it has a baseplate added - they originally come without.

Champion Lap Steel Pickup

Are you sure these are the same? I thought Keith's pickup was a staggered version with brass plate.

I'm not sure.
those pics just show an old Champion Lap Steel pickup, and that's what Rich of WeSellGuitars and Johnny Starbuck claim to be in Micawber.
on some pics the Micawber pup appears to have staggered pole-pieces, on others they seem to be flat.
how do you know it has a brass-base-plate?
I haven't seen the pickup disassembled.

Well, as far as I know all staggered pole piece Tele-style pickups have brass plates. I am sure Keith's pickup is staggered, so I assumed it has a brass plate as well.

This seems like the best place to discuss this post from the thread about the Paris gig:

Quote
petronio11
Hello people, heres a pic, im sorry but I dont know who took this!
Im sure is Ronnie's setlist. I can identify some guitars as "SS is a Sunburst Strato, "Bben is a Black Esp", but "Romeo" and "N Old or N/O", i dont know exactly.

Someone who was in the gig can help? Or someone else who knows?
The other image is from a other gig with The Faces only to compares...

Thanks, and ROCKS ON!! The guys are together again!

Gretz from Brazil!!!

I think that's "55", not SS - but since it's a 55 Sunburst Strat it comes out the same either way. :E

I know the "New Old" is another of his sunburst Strats - here's what Rich said about it earlier in this thread:

Quote
wesellguitars
N.O. is 'New Old' which is a 50's hardtail Strat of Ronnie's.
The guitars body has no paint on the back and funnily enough I had the body in the trunk of my car for a while
as I was asked to send it to Clive Brown who was going to paint the back to match the front.
That's a story in itself as I collected the body from Jummy Pages house and had a wierd experience.
Anyway, Clive is the UK's leading vintage finish restorer but in the end Ronnie decided he was going to paint a picture on the back
and got the body back but hasn't yet got around to it ... The guitar itself sounds superb and Ronnie uses it quite a bit.

but I don't know which one Romeo would be.
