Many Cringers along the way:

Anytime they played Love Train...wtf???

Opening night of Licks, Boston, Keith Botching the opening riff on the first song...

Everytime I listen to the club show, Paris on the Licks tour (check the audience tape, my friend calls it Band of Shit).

The first time I saw the Angie video...

Lets Work...

Shall I go on

JR (taking most of the good with the occasional cringer)

Personal cringe: '89 Steel Wheels rolled in to East Troy, Wisconsin for
three shows at Alpine Valley. First shows in Wisconsin since 1975.
Alpine Valley is 30 minutes from Milwaukee. Mick came out
and said "Hello Chicago!". Eventually he said "Hello Milwaukee" & Madison etc...
but....come on, it was in WISCONSIN not ILLINOIS. Tour coordinator must've told
him it was an alternate site near Chicago. We felt dissed. Oh well...

(Stones stayed in Chicago area and helicoptered to East Troy I think)

That reminded me of Pittsburgh, 94....Keith comes out and says, "Hello Phili"....

I cracked up, but no love lost between "da Burgh" and "Phili"...the crowd booed furiously, and then took a leak....hehehe

This video of Ain't Too Proud To Beg didn't just make me cringe when I found it, the clothes give me nightmares! Mick looks like something from Alice through the looking glass and even the sophisticated Mr Watts is wearing clothes that are memorable for all the wrong reasons. Great song, just need to erase the video from my mind...

Mick Jagger makes himself cringe in Gimme Shelter. When he sees video of himself at that press confrence where he says his famous quoate "Sexually satisfied, Fincancially disatisfied, philosiphocialy trying" he dimisses it and says "Rubbish!"

God, yes!

1. Back to Zero and Don't Stop - It is a tie for the lowest of low!
2. Anybody Seen My Baby?
3. She's the Boss/Let's Work/Dogshit in the Doorway
4. Wyman's Monkey Grip and Stone Alone
5. Indian Girl
6. Anyway You Look at It
7. Anyway You Look at It (so bad, it's worth 2x!)
8. State of Shock
9. Dancing in the Streets
10. Keef & Woody w/ Dylan @ Live Aid

oh, and let us not forget the epochal moment of Jagger's TV Special promoting the Dogshit in the Doorway rekkid!

hey ryanpow.......here's my post from page 2...i guess you missed it.

remember when Mick made himself cringe in the GIMME SHELTER documentary?

He was watching the playback with the filmmakers...
...responding at a press conference to the question
about whether he & the Stones are more "satisfied"...

Then they show Mick (watching the playback)...he looks
uncomfortable ("cringed") with his response and mutters "RUBBISH".

(no harm no foul)

Mick at Live Aid (the mullet does me in)

Keith in most interviews. Using words like "cats", "man", "dude", "rasta",
"gold rings on ya". Really not cool at all (I'm cringing now)

Keith's jerky stage movements. Twitches and such. Really not cool.

Justin Timberlake (enough said)

Ned Kelly

Did everyone forget Mick Jagger in the Bette Midler video of BEAST OF BURDEN?

That made me cringe.

Absolutely cringeworthy:

1) Everything about their merchandising
2) Keith Richards acting "drunk" in interviews
3) Repackaging old releases again and again, with "Rarities" as the most recent example
4) The "I Go Wild" choreography during the VL tour (the band members stepping out for the chorus - shiver..)
5) The guitar playing at many of the post 99 gigs
6) Voodoo Lounge/ABB (the albums)

The 2003 duet with Justin Timberlake
Some of the merchandising, e.g. the Dublin 2003 tee
Keith's mustache in 2007
Keith's "irregularity" in 2007
Ron's weak guitar playing in 1998

The Sex Drive video
Tour sponsorship from Castrol GTX
Luciana Morad/Gabriel Jagger
Rock And A Hard Place
Mick dressed as a Moroccan for the BBC in 1989
Cancelling gigs for 'tax' reasons

and

The crowd at Wembley Stadium in July 1990 that were more interested in the World Cup than in the show. Tales of people listening to portable radios rather than the band.

That cd-rom was lame....but i didn't cringe.

I cringed when I heard (or read) that bill wyman took some credit for JJFlash.

Maybe the latter sounds cringeworthy; but if ya cringe from hearing
Keith sayin' "Cat", ya gotta have been cringin' for
a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong while, mate smiling smiley

Mick with the dance instructor in the "Mixed Emotions" video.

The "Out Of Control" cage in the first couple of NS shows.

The sheer visual of Mick playing guitar in '81/'82, with the football pants, the SG, and the Ovation acoustic. Mick's much cooler with a Strat or the Hummingbird - and black pants.

And how about a little love for Mick & Bernard's "Anybody Seen My Baby?" rap on the Bridges tour?

He was lucky he didnt go to jail for it. Most mothers would have pressed charges. Mandy's actually gave it her blessing. Idiot. >>

Actually, Bill's son and Mandy's mum got on so well that they ended up a couple. That's complicated Christmas dinners for a family. Bill was behaving like a dirty old pig at the time, no doubt about it. Fortunately, he's come to his senses and married a nice, American lady (in her 40s). That's still a bit young for a 71-year old, but I would not like to see Bill accompanied by an average 71 year old broad!

Yeah, I think I mentioned that earlier. Per wikipedia, had both couples married "Stephen would have been his father's father-in-law and his own step-grandfather"

Delighted for him he seems to be happy and content, he deserves it. Suzanne may be a couple of decades younger but at least she wasnt jailbait!

"Rock And A Hard Place"
"Sweet Neo Con"
"Dangerous Beauty"
"I Go Wild"
"This Place Is Empty/Losing My Touch"
"Look What The Cat Dragged In"
"Suck On The Jugular"
"Highwire"
"Can't Be Seen"

but, really, is there anything to compete with "Beverly Hills, 90210?" Still makes me gag...

PS: Just the image of Woody and Keith backing Dylan with acoustics in the middle of the 1980's is cool enough that it doesn't really matter as to whether they were actually any good. A Mount Rushmore of Rock'n'Roll.

dang...how did i forget that? the band only appeared in concert clips
but the fact that they agreed to it is cringe-worthy. obviously they were
trying to appeal to a new audience......do you think it worked?

for those who didn't see it..the entire show (parents & teens) revolved
around...going to the Stones (Voodoo Lounge) show.

i think i still have that on videotape somewhere. (cringe)

The whole Altamont fiasco makes me cringe. What were the Stones thinking, hiring Hells Angels to oversee a free concert.
