NSC: Bob Dylan & Jack White
Posted by: Glam Descendant ()
Date: September 20, 2007 11:30

Exhausted from a whirlwind trip to Nashville to see Dylan's first night at the Ryman Auditorium but had to tell someone: Jack White showed up for the concert debut of "Meet Me In The Morning"! Jack wailed on guitar and handled most of the lead vocals; Bob (also on guitar) sang some lines on the last verse but I sensed he didn't recall the lyrics (I'll bet White chose this song to play). The place erupted when the lights came up and Jack was on stage.

Prior to Bob's set Elvis Costello played a surprise set! He wasn't supposed to join the tour until it reaches GA on Saturday.

Extraordinary show, I'm still trying to come down from it.

I'm sure he will. I think theres been at least one visit to Europe every year since 1989.

With a new album too, so it seems

I hope so, though I found this one:

"Following a report on the musicnews.com website, rumours have been circulating about a new Dylan album to be recorded in January 2008. Our Wicked Messenger advises that neither this report nor the consequent rumours are correct."

Nevertheless I'm still hoping. The rumours came from too many different directions to be completely out of bounds...

A hell of a show boys and girls!! [www.tennessean.com]

A rock and roll historical moment when White joined Dylan - it was awesome !!

Hi Glam, me and my kid were there too! Was that you in the red Stones shirt I saw?

Igotdebluz was gonna be there too, maybe the red shirt was him/her.

Wish I could make tonight's show, but alas, I can't.

Nope, I was wearing a Marianne Faithfull t-shirt.

>Wish I could make tonight's show, but alas, I can't.

It's insane but I'm seriously considering going for it. Unfortunately I think the buzz about last night's show will drive up demand for tickets for tonight (last night was a buyer's market surprisingly).

I am seeing Bob next weekend in CT, hope Jack comes along and plays with him again... Gazza, don't have an extra ticket this time around, that ticket went to waste last time cause one of my friends bailed last minute. Tried giving it away last minute here on IORR.

Keep in mind that Jack now lives in Nashville.

He's done it again:

About the second show at the Ryman:

This is the first live concert performance of "Outlaw Blues"
although Bob did perform it at a soundcheck in 1965.

Bob shared vocals and traded verses on "One More Cup Of Coffee"
and Jack White did the vocals on "Outlaw Blues".

Yeah Svartmer, I agree and it's really prominent in the mix ... maybe it's just the video. Personally I really like the stuff I've seen from the Austin City Limits and his band sounds very tight.

No, I (a her) was in a black t-shirt and jeans.....sitting sorta in the middle under the balcony. What an awesome night - 1st, the thrill of Elvis showing up, and then Jack White! That's not to even mention seeing a show in the Ryman, which is spectacular in itself - the acoustics were so incredible, I heard every line sung! Can't wait for this boot to surface......

During one of the intermissions, we passed Alison Krauss standing on the back wall, talking to someone who apparently was John Waite.

Maybe it'll be some other obscure guitarist who lives in Connecticut, then.....!

I was in Section 3, toward the back, still good seats. I've not been to loads and loads of venues, but the Ryman has to be among the very best. I would love to hear the Stones do an acoustic set there.
