As stated by others here, I'm having a hard time stomaching the negative posts on this thread. Whether you dislike punk or not, you can't ignore the impact the Pistols and NMTB had on the music industry. They opened the door for the DIY ethic that was so lacking in music at that time. Some say Keith was the original punk. This is an opinion that can be debated 'ad nauseum'. The fact is the Pistol kicked open the door for alot of bands that would have otherwise been ignored. The Clash, The Damned, The Stranglers, X, etc etc. Even bands like Tom Petty and Green Day. Yes, Tom Petty! I remember here in So Cal that 'New Wave' radio station KROQ was the first to play Petty because the mainstream rock stations, KMET & KLOS, thought he was too 'New Wave'. Shite!! Petty credits KROQ DJ Rodney Bingenhimer for there big break. Now we have Steve Jones and Indie 103.1 playing artists that would never hear the light of day on this durge we call 'Popular Radio'. While all you geezers are waiting to see if the Stones tour again, I'll be trying every way I know how to get into the Roxy.

48 yo punk and Stones fan

Not to forget, we have punk to thank for the raw approach the Stones took to Some Girls.
