HI All,
During my long, boring night shifts I pondered what I thought would be my ultimate STONES set lists. I have designed them with the licks tour in mind i.e. Stadium. Arena. Club.
Some songs are split into medley type arrangements of about 1 minute each (Anyone remember how Prince used this method to great effect on 1988's Lovesexy tour?)

Yeah the most they've played in two years was 22 songs...the Boston/Fenway shows in 2005...

But I'll take any of your setlists because that will mean they are still touring.

i think the stones would puke at the thought of doing 24 songs - mick looked ready to die after 22 songs at the garden in sept 05

Ok fair enough but how about being positive and changing it instead of just puking away into the sunset?

Because that's how some people on this board act. The more they can destroy a thread or change the subject the better

You should do it with all the keys and tempos like this........

Re: SETLISTS

they actually do tempos? does that mean that they use the click track for every song?

smile: come on ryanpow - you've seen these official setlists posted before,
and the clicktrack discussion that goes with them too.
the numbers Chuck counts in are counted in "to" something, right -
which doesn't mean the band is glued to a clicktrack.
and the ones with the tempo "KR" are ones Keith sets the tempo for.

BV = backing vocalists, BC = Blondie Chaplin, TR = Tim Ries, MD = Michael Davis ...

GREAT POST CONCEPT!!!

I'll have to think about it and get back to you on this, but boy, IS this gonna be fun!

Some hints - there will be no Anybody Seen My Baby?, Don't Stop, and absolutely no Rock & a Hard Place.

Re: SETLISTS

HI Good people,
Glad someone agreed with my Lady Jane being included, I love that track and think it would work live.
I personally reckon that L.A.R.S. has been done to death!
One of my particular pet hates is J.J.F. being performed first, especially outdoors when it's still light.I think that song simply must fill a finale spot. They opened with J.J.F. in the 1999 UK outdoor gigs and the sunlight (And rain) reduce that songs power.

I thought Wee Bobby Lennox was inspired adding Sad Sad Sad, that's a cracker!
In fact, I have always been in a minority loving the steel wheels/ urban jungle set lists even Harlem Shuffle and undercover had something special live for some reason for some folk.If there happens to be another 2 - 3 tours left, I wonder how many songs from Bigger Bang will stay in the set? I reckon none myself.

I take the point about the medley's.. But while I used Prince's Lovesexy tour as an example is that they are not medley's as such. In 76 the stones wove together if you can't rock me with get off my cloud perfectly into one barnstorming rocker, that's more what I meant.

Wouldn't anyone love to see the stage (Almost) clear to witness MIck do salt of the earth with heavy rasping backing vocals from keith?
Anyone know why the Stones didn't do LIve 8?.... were they already booked? I wonder if they would of gone on before/after Floyd if they had played?

Why is flashpoint so hated? I can understand No Security and Still LIfe but Flashpoint???? What about Live Licks?

I imagine you are all sick to death of me now so I will ask lastly, who would you like to see guesting on stage with the boys and on what?

Sorry If I bored you all!!!!!!!!!! Just let me know and I will keep em short and sweet in future or leave you in peace all together.... I am just extremely interested in genuine fans that's all.

Good health to you all.

I actually liked anyone seen my baby as a song, it was obviously a lot more of a MIck job than a keith but I liked the song. On the other hand, it simply isn't a live show song and has no place at concerts. Don't stop I don't like full stop.I think the band themselves in interviews hinted they didn't love it too much. I think that was clearly a selling point for the licks album. I very much doubt we will be hearing either of those two songs live again.

I also have a REAL hatred for Live with me, don't know why.

I just put the post up as a bit of fun really, it's not as serious as some are taking it ie I have a added 2 or 3 too many songs etc.... it's not like Mick's gonna use one is it!!!!

I like the other set lists posted, especially the club ones.

What about 5 or 6 songs you under no circumstances would like to hear in a million years again ever?

What about
1) Sex Drive
2) Sweethearts together
3) Streets of love (Whatever possessed them?)
4)Live with me
5)Flip the switch
7)Don't Stop
8)Apart from 'Harlem' anything off Dirty Work
9)Blinded by love
10)Blinded by Rainbows

well.... there's 10 anyway.

2. Not Fade Away
3. Route 66 or Let It Rock
4. Rocks Off or Rip this Joint
5. Live With Me
6. Little Queenie or Bye Bye Johnny
7. Sweet Virginia or Prodigal Son
8. Rough Justice
9. Angie (Taylor solos from 73 Euro required)
10. Sympathy for the Devil
11. Before They Make Me Run or Connection
12. You Got the Silver
13. Gimme Shelter (to B-stage)
14. Jumping Jack Flash (B-stage)
15. Spider & the Fly (B-stage)
16. Torn & Frayed (so magical live) or Who's Driving Your Plane?
17. Just Wanna See His Face (15 minutes' workout)

20. Midnight Rambler

Need a good opening act. Suggest Weird Al Yankovic doing Hot Rocks Polka. Takes care of some of the war horses, opens the Stones up to do some of their other stuff, and maybe he and Mick can duet on Brown Sugar... grinning smiley

Ive never posted a hypethetical setlist on here because its always been to hard for me, I keep second gueesing what I think of and or think "I'll leaving too much out". Last night, for the first time I think I came up with a good one. here it is:

1. Its only Rock N Roll (rotate with SMU)
2. Oh No Not You Again
3. Tumbling Dice
4, Where The Boys Go
5, Gimme Shelter
6. Let It Loose
7. Far Away Eyes
8. Cant Be Satsifed
9. Harlem Shuffle
band Intros
10. Sleep Tonight (Ketih)
11. Happy (Keith)
12. Fingerprint File (to B stage)
13. Back Of My Hand (B stage)
14. Flight 505 (B stage)
15. Satsifaction(From B stage)
16. You Cant Always Get What You Want
17. Midnight Rambler
18. Honkey Tonk Women
19. Brown Sugar
20. Jumping Jack Flash

Encore: 21. Streetfighting Man

I like this set because it is compact, yet it feels like there is a lot of musical territory covered in it.

YCAGWYW could be dropped some nights and replaced by PIB or sympathy, but not necessarily in that spot. later on in the warhosrses.. I think MR should kick them off. Or perhaps on some occasions MR could be given a break. or some other song here or there in general could be since they realisstically wouldn't do 21 per night. more like 19-20. but this is my basic idea with PIB or sympanty getting in sometimes. and I think a ONE song encore, or some nights with no encore. the two song encore is getting tired!

OK

here is what I think would be a realistic set - with well known hits and a reasonable amount of songs

it wouldn't be my ULTIMATE PERSONAL set list, but it would be a classic Stones show that satisfied all - and easily the best set list I would have ever seen

1- Start Me Up
2- Brown Sugar
3- Can't You Hear Me Knockin'
4- Til The Next Goodbye
5- Let It Bleed
6- She Was Hot
7- Honky Tonk Women
8- Let It Loose (with Lisa spotlight)

9- Before They Make Me Run (KR)
10-You Got The Silver (KR)

11-Love Is Strong (to B stage)
12-Under My Thumb
13-Crazy Mama
14-Tumblin' Dice (To main stage)

15-Satisfaction
16-Street Fighting Man
17-Ruby Teusday
18-Shattered
19-Star Star
20-You Can't Always Get What You Want

ENCORE
21-Jumpin' Jack Flash

I can only recall the Stones doing two song encores in '97/'98 & '05/'06,all involving YCAGWYW.
