and it worked wonderfully, i'm sure we can all agree.

"IN REEEARRRRGHLAHTEEE SHE DUZZNNNT FAHKIN' NOOOOOOO ME!"

Soundquality combined with performance: Detroit 07/06/78
after that...Fort Worth 78, Phoenix 81 and Hampton 81

Yeah that is great! I actually expect to hear him sing that when I listen to the studio version!

I agree with the 78 version but there was another I loved from the No Security tour in 99..I think on the Casino Royale boot ?

IMHO best Just My Imagination live is on SAL, second may be '78. Don't like that sax heard on Still Life... Yeah I love you Bobby, but it just doesn't fit with the song.

Aww... you couldn't know SAL back then! tongue sticking out smiley I love rediscovering those old topics.

So do I,just a little correction : it´s Ernie Watts playing on this Still Life
version.

never liked the stones version of that song too much. the worst version is on shine a light. the lowpoint of the gig.

I prefer the '78 versions.
That drum kickoff from Charlie is brilliant.

Hi

In the spread of your entire collection, in your opinion, what is the best performance of just my imagination? I am looking for something that is good as, if not better than the version on Still Life. Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Ravi

A song whose performance by the band I particularly dislike. I think it is a lowpoint and epitomizes the BS of "weaving." Strum it this way, strum it that way, strum it slower, then..big finish..strum it faster. The guitar interplay for me is a flat out bore.

Having said that I was surprised to enjoy the SAL performance. I thought that that performance found a groove with the horns and to my ears the offending guitar parts were turned down. It was the only song I remember actually enjoying.

Ive always really liked the Album Version. It has a real garage band ambiance to it and the fact that its a re make of a love song makes it interesting.

I fell hard for it when Some Girls came out. Always liked it more than the Temps. Studio version still holds up.

The original Temps version is still definitive, but Hampton '81 is damn good.

Hampton 1981

Love Detroit '81 - "Well, in the land of Motown, here we go." Ernie Watts saxophone overload used to annoy me, but now I dig the interaction with the rest of the band. Pretty cool.

The versions on Handsome Girls are snarling, dirty rock 'n' roll magnificence.

I saw the 78 and 81 tours...the 78 version is the winner hands down.

I quite agree. The Stones raped this song with their neuky cover version.
